Bengaluru, May 15: There is temporary respite from verbal and Twitter war between former chief minister, Siddaramaiah, and JD(S) state president, H Vishwanath. Siddaramaiah also has drawn curtains over the talk of 'future chief minister'. However, he has referred to important schemes implemented by his government evidently to prove to Vishwanath that his government had done good work and JD(S) state president was wrong in claiming that Siddaramaiah government had not precious little during its tenure.

The ceasefire came into force after Siddaramaiah called chief minister (CM) Kumaraswamy over phone to express his displeasure and the CM calmed him down by assuring to advise Vishwanath on the issue.

Although Siddaramaiah and Kumaraswamy stayed in the same hotel at Hubballi, they did not meet. Siddaramaiah talked to Kumaraswamy over phone to brief him about the issue. He also wanted the chief minister to judge for himself the way his leaders would have worked for Congress candidates in the recently concluded election, going by the language they have been using against the former. He clarified that he has never said that he would be the next chief minister and that his talk about becoming CM if his party is given the mandate was in response to the shouts of the people to become CM again, and added that he would not fight election again.

In his tweet, Siddaramaiah reminded that long range schemes like Anna Bhagya, Ksheera Bhagya, Ksheera Dhare, Krishi Bhagya, Pashu Bhagya etc had been implemented by his government and no government can stop these schemes. He also expressed the view that JD(S) minister, G T Deve Gowda, should not have openly said that JD(S) workers had voted for BJP, even though there is truth in it, as it gave several Congressmen an opportunity to speak ill of the JD(S). He also said that people have started to laugh at Yeddyurappa, taking into consideration his failed attempts at becoming chief minister.

Earlier in the day, speaking at Hubballi, Siddaramaiah said that Vishwanath's statements would be discussed in the meeting of the coordination committee of the coalition government to be convened after the election result is published. He also asserted that it is not right to discuss this matter in public.

Kumaraswamy in the meantime, clarified that he does not have any differences of opinion with Siddaramaiah and asked leaders of both the parties not to issue any statement which can harm the trust between the two parties and damage the coalition government. He told them firmly that the coalition government is here to stay, and that it is like a huge boulder which can never be toppled by anyone. He agreed that the Congress leaders are not wrong in wishing that Siddaramaiah will become chief minister again, and questioned his supporters whether the Congressmen have said that Kumaraswamy would be removed from the seat and Siddaramaiah would be installed there. He dubbed differences between the parties as minor and that the coalition government and leaders of both the parties have interest of the state at the top of their agenda.
