Dubai, Apr 13: Kenneth Zuzarte, known as 'Keny' is very popular among the Mangalorean and Goan crowds, wherever he goes. He simply loves to entertain the crowd.
Once again, Keny will be in Dubai to perform on April 17, 2009 during Daiji Utsav - 2009. He will be one of the main attractions of the show.
Kenneth Zuzarte (44), a Konkani theatre artiste who hails from Derebail in Mangalore, has been portraying female lead roles with aplomb for the last three decades.
Profession: Playing female lead roles. He already has over 1,200 stage performances in his kitty. Most of his performances have been in the roles of women! His capacity to get into the female roles is exceptional!.
He took to serious acting, after his graduation in 1978 from St Xavier's.
“I have acted as a male only twice till now and in both these roles, I was uncomfortable. I felt I would have done a lot better if I was in the role of the heroine than a hero in those plays,” confesses Zuzarte. At the same time, he is quite comfortable being a male in real life though!
Kenny has a very good professional background. He began to perform on the stage and began to switch over to Hindi orchestra, where he regaled the audiences by singing in the voices of Salma Agha, Shamshad Begum, Runa Laila and Geeta Dutt.
After non-stop singing for about eight years, he thought of showing his talent in his mother tongue Konkani. If I say Keny would have done better than Govinda and Kamal Hassan in Aunty No 1 and Chachi 420, I am sure I am not at all wrong.
He is grateful to Prem Kumar, who gave him his first break in 1992. He is equally thankful to Philomena Brags who gave him his first break in Goan shows, Chetana Pandya for Hindi orchestra and Rosa Karwar Street for Mangalorean shows. He has also done Hindi serials like “ Ek Kahani “ and was approached by the 'Hum Paanch' team.
Keny has won the 'best actress' award for his performance in the Hindi play, “Hum Ek Hai”. The judges were shocked to know that the 'heroine' they selected for the award, was in fact, a male.
Kenneth has released his first music video too, called 'Miss Kenya'. For more information, you may log on to www.youtube.com (Miss Kenya Goa).
He is the son of the late Michael Zuzarte and Treeza Zuzarte. When he was 10, he lost his mother and when he was 12, he lost his father too. He is very thankful to his aunt Rosy Vaz, who took care of him and his younger sister Jeanette in Mumbai.
The maverick entertainer, who is 6'3" tall with shoe size 12, does his own make-up and designs his own outfits. As for buying lingerie, he just walks into a store and orders the extra-large size without trying them at all!
"My health does not permit to be as active as before, but I am coming to Dubai on organizers' demand, and I want to give not less than 100% to this show. May be this is my last show abroad..." says Keny, who is always grateful to the Dubai crowd because whenever he was here, he was wholeheartedly encouraged by his fans and wellwishers.
