Mangalore, Apr 13:
The Mangalore Bar Association on Monday April 12 urged the state government to hand over advocate Naushad Kashimji’s murder case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Staging a protest in front of the deputy commissioner’s office under the banner of the Mangalore Bar Association, advocates condemned the murder of their colleague. Addressing the demonstrators, S P Chengappa, president of the association alleged that there has been an increased threat to the lives of the advocates in the city in the last few months. But the police department is totally negligent in this regard.

"Many of the advocates have received threat from the miscreants. Even though, we have brought this to the notice of the police department, they have not shown any interest in this regard. Naushad’s murder is a consequence of negligence of the department. The miscreants have now threatened to kill one of our colleagues within the next seven day," he alleged.

Chengappa claimed that the advocate community is under apprehension after threats, attempt to murder and assault on them. The police department has failed to provide protection to the community. They have not apprehended any of the prime accused of assault case, he complained. He also pointed out that the association would continue to protest till the real culprits of the murder are arrested. A state-wide demonstration would be conducted if the state government fails to hand over the case to CBI, he added.

Police Out-post in Court Premises

Submitting a memorandum to the deputy commissioner V Ponnuraj, the association urged him to set up a police outpost in court premises in order to provide protection to the advocates.

General secretary Ishwar N Kottary, treasurer HV Raghavendra, vice-president Elizabeth Neeliyara, joint secretary Anitha Kini K were also present.

I can see the undue concern of muslims for their community man here. Some of them have blindly passed comments with out any substance. you people feel everything is under attack and vulnerable when minority member dies. Lets the police first find out whether the lawyer had any connection with underground ppl ?

Thanks Daijiworld for publishing good news. Looks nice and feeling good as our honourable court & advocates delivering thier duty without petty politics and religious bias. Everyone must support our constitution & respect the law of land. Criminal's has no religion but who is criminal & who is innocent, the court of law only decide.

If everyone get justice then only we can remove the devil of terror & extremist on earth. Speedy trail & unbiased law enforcement system is need of the hour. God bless all

Bravo lawyers and I saluate You,only language in Democracy which is heard - protests and more and more peaceful protests againist injustice, till the justice is done.Delighted to see many Senior as well as young lawyers protesting aganist injustice done to their Collegue Nousad.I grew up in the age of anti-hero,yet I refused to believe that there were no more heroes till all this violence Incidents started happening in Managlore.

But now once again I could see and believe that there are Heros, that is Lawyers of Mangalore. This is the kind of Hero's we need.Pls.don't let this mantle go off till the real culprits are arrested and punished. And try to continue this movement and penentrate in to the masses .It should be a non political, non biased movement and its sucess should be realized by the Govt.and should be aware of its impact on the future course of a democratic society.

My concern to see the old time Mangalore, which is with full spirit,co existance and respect to each others religion.Only a movement like this one will bring rule of law, respect for an individual's freedom, civil liberties and equality of everyone before the law irrespective of the creed, caste and status of the person. Let us be more optimestic and keep hope that this kind of contributions of lawyers must be treated as a positive direction for the future political and democratic set up in Coastal Distrits, which only can bring an end to what is happening for last one year in these Districts.

Dear Lawyers-pls.keep in your mind that MAHATMA GANDHI was a lawyer and most of the famous peoples movements were started from LAWYERS. JAI HIND

Advocates and have come to street demanding Justice. They demanding protection to their profession. When anything happens immediately Mr. P.P. Hegde will jump with statement to the press. Now where he is , whether he knows which hand is behind this attack and murder ?, The senior most advocate Mr. Purushotham Poojari demanded for CBI Enquiry, since he is having the doubt about the involment of the Police department. Now it is the duty of the government to give justice by handing over the case to CBI. My sincere thanks to Bar association for arranging a protest rally and thanks to daijiworld to cover the news immediately.
