Dubai Lad Larry Fernandes Plays Lead Role in Konkani Movie

Mangalore, Apr 15: 27-year-old Larry Fernandes, who was born and brought-up in Dubai, had neither dreamt to be a film actor nor had he acted so far even in school dramas or skits, but when opportunity came calling suddenly, he just grabbed it !
Larry will be featuring in Richard Castelino's Konkani movie 'Kazar' to be released in September 2009, in a lead role.
Richard Castelino is a noted Tulu - Konkani film director, with all the movies released by him so far having either grabbed the state or the national award.
While his ' Bangar Patler' Tulu movie and 'Bogsane' Konkani movie bagged the national awards, 'Nyayakad Enna Baduk', 'September -8' and 'Badi' bagged Karnataka state awards.
Shooting for his Kodava movie 'Ponnamma' has been completed and this film is all set to hit the screen by the next week.
"'Kazar' is quite different from my earlier movies. In this movie, the focus is on a NRI boy, who comes back to Mangalore to get married. But once he gets married, he faces resistance from his bride for his move to get back to Dubai," said Castelino, speaking to Daijiworld.
"This movie has full of glamour, music, comedy, action and emotions..I hope lovers of Konkani will accept this movie. As 90% of the shooting has already been completed, we are planning to conclude the shooting by May. Some important Xmas and wedding scenes are yet to be shot. Now, after the Easter, shooting will resume at the earliest" says a confident Castelino.
Larry Fernades had difficulties in facing the camera for the first time, but within a few days, he got used to it and now he is confident of playing any role. "I was totally nervous on the first day, as I never faced camera earlier, and did not know how to react. But after my team supported me to the hilt, I gained confidence to move forward. I am lucky to have got a chance to work with such a dynamic team" he says.
"At the first instance, the director asked me as to whether I was interested in acting. I reacted by saying that I had never done it before. He inspired me and told me, 'you can do it'. I accepted the challenge and went ahead" says Larry.
Mallikarjuna, a well known Kannada movie cameraman, will be hitting a century with this movie, as this film will be his 100th behind the camera.
"With good team support, hard work and dedication, one can achieve anything,” says Larry, whose day starts at 4.30 am and extends up to 9.30 pm.
"I was forced to reduce 15 kg weight in less than two months' time, because of the demands of my role, and I did it by sticking to a strict diet regimen and regular exercises. I feel very happy and relaxed now both mentally and physically, as acting is a very interesting job. I just love it," Larry says.
Son of Frank and Alice Fernandes, Larry currently works for Mosaco shipping company in Dubai. After completing his education till the 12th std in Dubai, he later completed BBM degree course from Aloysius College Mangalore.
Kodagu beauty Harshitha Poonacha is playing the lead role opposite Larry. Unlike Larry, this is not the first movie for Poonacha, who has already acted in lead roles in two Kannada movies and also plays lead role in yet to be released Kodava movie "Ponnamma".
Most of the co-artistes are from Mangalore. Mithesh, Savia, Reena, Larina, Vipin and others form the star cast of the movie.
Lyrics have been composed by Wilfy Rebimbus and late Mickmax, tune composed by Wilfy Rebimbus and Ragdev, music directed by Vijay Bharathi. Playback singers are Rony Crasta, Radhika Menon and Hemanth.
The plots chosen for shooting are Chomakudru Madikeri, Kings Cottage Madikeri, Mangalore Airport, Goan beaches-especially Dona-Paula, Someshwar beach, Pilikula, Karawar etc.
