Hubballi, May 19: After BJP candidate from Bhopal Lok Sabha seat Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur called Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse a ‘patriot’, former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah hit back by calling her a ‘terrorist.’

“What can we expect from a woman who is 100 percent RSS?” he questioned. While Gandhi was titled Mahatma by the people of the nation, Godse was never given such a honour. When a person who murdered a Mahatma can be called as a ‘patriot’ then all terrorists can be called the same, he told reporters in Hubballi on Saturday.

Siddaramaiah strongly criticised Karnataka MPs Anant Kumar Hegde and Nalin Kumar Kateel for backing Pragya’s statements.

“While Anant Kumar Hegde is all set to change the constitution, Dakshina Kannada MP does not seem to be aware of India’s history, glory and how the country got independence. How can we call them patriots?” he questioned.

The comments by the three BJP leaders triggered a nationwide controversy and were severely criticized even by the BJP leadership for praising Godse. BJP president Amit Shah called that the opinions are personal and is against the BJP ideology. He said disciplinary action has been initiated against them.
