Kasargod, May 20: Probe so far conducted by National Investigation Agency (NIA) has found that ISIS has plotted to kill several leaders from the state including those belonging to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
This came into the fore during the probe being conducted by the agency in Kerala in the backdrop of the recent serial blasts in Sri Lanka.
It is said that ISIS had planned to murder prominent leaders to announce to the world that it has set up its unit in Kerala. ISIS Kerala unit has been named 'Ansar Ul Khalif Kerala'. It has created a telegram group, 'Bab Al Noor'. 25 members of this group have conducted spy activities in Kerala.
NIA also found during the investigation that the group had discussed the issue of stopping India from celebrating Independence Day.
ISIS had planned to eliminate RSS leaders, Marad Suresh, Vatsan Tillengeri, two senior high court judges, and senior police officer, P A Unnirajan, NIA said.
It also has transpired that Shajeer Mangallassery Abdulla from Kozhikode, who was identified by Kerala ISIS unit as Amir Abu Ayesha, who was a student of the National Institute of Technology Kozhikode, had died in 2016 in Afghanistan during an operation.
