Kundapur, May 21: A catering employee was seriously injured after miscreants attacked him in Kundapur and robbed him of his cash.
The incident took place in Bhatrahadi, Neralekatte at 11 pm on Monday night. The person who sustained serious injuries is identified as Akshath Shetty (24).
The accused who assaulted him have been identified as Santhosh Shetty Asodu and Prasad Shetty Chorumakki.
Akshath Shetty, the victim, works for a catering company. He had gone to cater for a birthday party on Monday evening. He was returning home after work on his bike at around 11 pm. He stopped his bike to open the gate of his residence when the accused who were waiting for him, hit him with machete on legs, head and shoulder. He collapsed due to the serious injuries he sustained in the assault. The neighbours pointed their torch when Akshath raised an alarm, but the suspects fled after robbing Rs 40,000 from him.
The suspects who were involved in the attack, have seven to eight criminal cases registered against them. They had assaulted Akshath twice in the past on suspicions that he a police informer. Akshath in his police complaint has stated that this is the third assault.
Local people have admitted Akshath who was seriously injured to Kundapur private hospital. A case is registered in Kandloor, Kundapur rural police station.
