Panaji, Apr 19: A congress worker threw a food packet at Goa’s Congress Rajya Sabha member Shantaram Naik during a rally here on Saturday, April 18 evening.

Naik was addressing a rally at Curchorem town, 60 kms away from Panaji, when congress worker Rama Gauns Desai flung a food packet at him.

The packet missed the MP who is canvassing for Congress candidate Fransisco Sardinha in South Goa and instead fell on the table.

Eye witnesses stated that the worker who was sitting next to a press gallery in the meeting threw the packet and shouted in Konkani language `tumi sogle foting’ (you all are liars) when Naik was addressing the gathering.

The incident sparked off the confusion in the rally even as police immediately apprehended the food packet thrower.

Police stated that he was later arrested and booked under section 151 of CrPC.

Naik, who looked a bit shocked for sometime, said that he did not want to pursue the matter as it was the emotional outburst of the worker.

Politicians cannot just evade from whatever they are doing and saying is right. Days are gone whichever parties they belong are forced to be responsible once they plead votes with citizens and cannot escape from the wrath of the citizens. Thanks to the literacy of Indians. The present India a fourth largest economy which we see is the constant struggle diligently pursued by congress in 50 years and now some parties wanted to hijack the development works of congress.

We need educated politicians to run this great country. We have the UPA government which is soft on  terrorists and the communists (from Bengal and Kerala) supporting the UPA. The people of India are caught between two devils, terrorists and the irresponsible communists.

It is a very sinful thing to throw food at anyone. That one packet could have been a full days meal for someone deserving.
