Mangalore, Apr 20: State home minister Dr V S Acharya on Monday April 20, said that the Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi does not have any idea about nationality and nationalism. “She is a real fascist of this country,” he commented.
Addressing media persons at the Bharatiya Janata Party Election Office here, he said, “Sonia Gandhi is a leader of communal forces. The Congressmen are indulging in false propaganda against the BJP out of frustration. Defeat of the Congress Party in the 15th Lok Sabha election is assured.”
Defending his recent much-publicized visit to the Congress workers meeting in Udupi district, Dr Acharya said, his visit was neither to the Congress office nor the meeting of that party. “I had been there to meet one of my friends,” Acharya clarified. About the initiation of disciplinary action against Urimajalu Rama Bhat, a BJP rebel and independent candidate from Dakshina Kannada constituency, he said as the home minister, he was not authorized to take any action. “It is certain that the party will take action against him,” Acharya asserted.
“The state government has taken adequate measure to curb naxal menace in the Western Ghat section. As the home minister of the state, I cannot reveal the places where the police personnel have been deployed. At the same time, the issue of terrorism comes under the purview of the Indian government,” he claimed.
In reply to a query, Dr Acharya said that setting up of a commissionerate office in the city has been postponed due to the announcement of parliamentary election.
Some of the members of Dalit organizations joined the BJP on this occasion.
District-in-charge minister J Krishna Palemar and MLA Yogish Bhat were present.
