Bengaluru: HDK to attend PM Modi's swearing-in, to meet Rahul Gandhi

Bengaluru, May 30: Chief minister HD Kumaraswamy will attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Thursday, May 30.

It was not certain that Kumaraswamy would attend the ceremony.

Modi’s BJP won 25 out of 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka recently, which was a big blow for the Kumaraswamy-led Congress-JD(S) coalition. There was another setback for Kumaraswamy with his son Nikhil losing to BJP-backed independent candidate Sumalatha in Mandya. The coalition government which was in trouble due to dissidence is in more trouble now after the Lob Sabha results came out with BJP trying to ‘welcome’ some of the disgruntled MLAs from Congress-JD(S) coalition.

Kumaraswamy is also expected to meet Congress president Rahul Gandhi during his visit to New Delhi.

"I will request Rahul Gandhi to continue as president of Congress,” Kumaraswamy told reporters.
