Tumakuru: Internal sabotage led to Deve Gowda's shocking defeat, says Congress report

Daijiworld Media Network - Tumakuru (MS)

Tumakuru, May 30: In a shocking revelation by the Congress party unit of the district it has come to light that JD(S) supremo Deve Gowda lost the election as the money that was sent by the Congress high command to attract voters was spent on BJP candidate instead by the Congress workers.

The report of the district unit clearly mentions that the defeat of former PM Deve Gowda was an insider job. It also mentions the names of many leaders of Congress who openly worked for BJP candidate. The report by the district Congress unit also stresses that this is the reason for the mammoth increase in the votes of BJP, which had got only 2,500 votes in the Karnataka state legislative assembly polls last year.

The Congress leaders who have sent this report to the party high command have clarified that this report was prepared after visiting various parts of the constituency and also the inputs received by the party workers.

The contestants of Tumakuru was of interestingly labelled as the contest between the two strong communities of Vokkaligas and Lingayats of the state to which Deve Gowda and Basavaraj belong respectively.

Deve Gowda, who contested as the alliance candidate of Congress and JD(S), originally planned to contest from the JD(S) stronghold of Hassan. However, he offered that seat to his grandson Prajwal Revanna, son of PWD minister H D Revanna. In addition, rumours are also making rounds that though Gowda was not interested to contest the elections this time, he did so only to satisfy the demands of his party workers.

The Tumakuru seat, which was held by Congress MP Muddahanumegowda, was given to JD(S) as per the seat sharing agreement that both the coalition partners of Congress and JD(S) entered into prior to the elections. Muddahanumegowda even filed his nomination as a rebel candidate but withdrew his nomination at the last minute due to pressure from the party high command. But this might have worked against Deve Gowda, who is considered as an outstation candidate in the district.

I am a bit confused!! Does this mean that money is required to attract voters rather than work done in the past for your constituency?? No wonder you lost.

own people putting sword from back side. It is unbearable.

Speaking about family rule family shoppe I will not agree.

Lost because of cheating. Lost because of false assurance given by BJP. lost because of Hindhutva. Not because of family rule. Family rule is everywhere we find.
