Bantwal, May 31: Prasad Poojary (28) from Moodbidri, who has been accused of committing theft at Chowta Indane Gas Agency at Kadegoli, Farangipet in the taluk on January 10, stands arrested by the personnel of the rural police station here. Poojary, who has been accused of being in the habit of stealing and was involved with a number of thefts, was remanded to judicial custody by the court.

It is gathered that Prasad cultivated the habit of stealing when he was very young. In one of the cases, he had been sentenced to three years in prison.

Poojary had rented a room in a lodge at Thokkottu some days back. He had not visited his room since the last four to five days. The lodge owners had conveyed information about this issue to the police. The police, in whose presence the door of the said room was broken open, found cell phone and pen drives. During verification of these things, they came to know that Prasad had been imprisoned in a theft case in the past.

Prasad came back to the room after some days. The lodge people promptly informed the police about his arrival. Police personnel of Kankanady police station took him into custody and questioned him. They came to know that he had committed thefts at Chowta Gas Agency, Toyota showroom at Padil and two mobile phone shops in Mangaluru city in the recent past.

The stolen mobile phone was seized from Prasad's possession. He said that the cash he stole was utilized to repay his loans.

Investigation is now continuing under the guidance of police circle inspector here, Sharanye Gowda.

Looking at the pattern and considering his age, that he is not involved in violence, He needs psychological counselling. Let him complete prison term so as to deter others from doing the same and for him too. But please put him thru psychological counselling . May be it is a curable mental status . OR at the least , enable him to control his impulses for stealing. Just sending him to prison does not achieve anything for him or the society.

Manas Mangalore, sure he might be needing psychological counselling. But itself doesnt make him to live without any means ,jobs etc.Who gives him a job to him?During his stay in Prison govt must adapt a training to such young boys to give job chances ,training,or education.what is his education? His parents were not caring about this?Govt should have some projects where they can work like. Then only such theft etc might go back otherwise he will come back to jail or adapt drug business.
