Bengaluru: Caught between ministry expansion or rejig, Congress refers to high command

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jun 1: All India Congress Committee general secretary in charge of party affairs in Karnataka, K C Venugopal, who held end to end meetings for two days and collected opinions from legislators, ministers and senior leaders, has decided to bring these opinions and suggestions to the notice of the party high command and move ahead as per its guidance.

Venugopal left for New Delhi on Friday. He is expected to appraise national president of the party, Rahul Gandhi, and explain to him about the opinions elicited by him from the leaders. In general, it is said that the opinion under the prevailing circumstances is in favour of expanding the ministry than reorganizing it.

Sources in the party confirmed that the high command also may express itself in favour of ministry expansion alone. As per the information available, the three vacant seats may be filled during the first week of this month. It is said that two independent MLAs and either B C Patil, who represents Hirekeroor constituency, or B Nagendra, MLA of Ballari rural constituency, may be accommodated in the ministry.
