Bengaluru: CM wants to resume his village stay concept with modifications

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jun 3: Karnataka chief minister (CM), H D Kumaraswamy, who is currently grappling with the decimation of the coalition in the Lok Sabha election and apprehension about the stability of the government, has planned to take up his pet 'village stay' concept again. The plan, which had been implemented for the first time 13 years ago, is being implemented this time with some differences. The CM will be staying in government schools instead of residences of villagers.

The CM shared thoughts about the resumption of village stay plan through Twitter. He said that village stays help him to mingle with people, get firsthand account of problems bothering them, and to keep people apprised of the government's way of functioning. He said his village stays will begin soon in government schools.

It is expected that during the coming village stays, the CM will lay more emphasis on improving basic facilities in government schools, improve quality of education, and respond to problems of local villagers and farmers.

Like in the previous village stays, this time too, farmers will be the focal point. The CM wants to share the things he learnt from schemes implemented by the government so far for the welfare of farmers. He also will give priority to urging the people to undertake modern methods of cultivation, extended support to mechanized farming, and giving information on various aspects to the people, CM's office sources stated.

Whenever the CM plans village visits, several senior officials visit that spot in advance and undertake verification. They will prepare report on the problems bothering the people, expectations, and what can be done to mitigate them. During these stays, many problems can be solved on the spot. Te CM wants to get all information about the facilities needed to these villages, which departments are lagging behind in implementing the schemes, and to find lasting solutions to the problems affecting such villages.

    Pathetic....
It is very clear that the CM has no clue on how to run the government and do maximum good to maximum people by devising development work. How is village stay going to be practical?? How long will it take to reach all the villages.

It is very sad that Karnataka is going through this.

Mahatma Gandhi said "The future of India lies in its villages".

The Gandhian ideas of Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Raj system can become vehicles for ushering in the much needed social and political change by including all the stakeholders in the process of decision-making and public policy formulation. As Gandhi said, "Panchayat Raj represents true democracy realized. We would regard the humblest and the lowest Indian as being equally the ruler of India with the tallest in the land".

I appreciate Karnataka chief minister (CM), H D Kumaraswamy initiative towards a vision of Gandhiji. But with his stay, he should fix the basic problems like sanitation, water problems, health, and administration.

It is the first step towards connecting citizens of this nation.
