UAE Bunts: Colorful Event Marks 35 Years of Unity, Strength

Dubai, May 8: UAE Bunts under the able leadership of Karnataka Rajyostava and Aryabhatta International Award winner and popular community leader from Abu Dhabi Sarvotham Shetty, got together at the JW Marriott Hotel in Dubai to celebrate 35 years of togetherness in the UAE
The event started with welcoming of the patron Dr B R Shetty and Chandra Kumari R Shetty in a traditional style with ‘Kombu Kahale’ followed by lighting of the lamp by the organizers B R Shetty and his wife and chief guests Aikala Harish Shetty, president, Bunts Sangha Mumbai.
Jyothika Harsha Shetty and all the co-ordinators of this year’s celebrations began the cultural programme with a prayer song followed by the prayer dance ‘Vakratunda Ganesha’ by Manjula Ganesh Rai and group.
Jyothika also welcomed the gathering. Chetna Satish Shetty and group, Girish-Rekha Shetty and group, Abu Dhabi, Ashwini Shetty and Laxman Shetty group, Dubai, Pavan and Vinutha Shetty Group performed various dances. Humorous jokes and mimicry was also part of the event.
During the event Padmashree Dr Shetty and his wife were felicitated by UAE Bunts Sangha. On this occasion, an audio visual presentation about Dr Shetty’s journey from childhood till his winning the Padmashree award, was also shown.
Ganesh Rai presented Dr Shetty a book and a photo album titled ‘Hejjeya Guruthu’ (Footprints of B R Shetty).
Aikala Harish Shetty, president, Mumbai Bunts Sangha, and his wife Chandrika Harish Shetty were also felicitated. Mohandas N Shetty, Dombivili Bunts Sangha’s regional committee member and Vijay Kumar Shetty , Kala Jagathu, Mumbai were also felicitated during the event.
Sudhir Shetty, winner of the coveted ISCC Presidentship in Abu Dhabi, C R Shetty, winner of the ‘Indira Priyadarshini’ award, and Sarvotham Shetty, winner of ‘Aryabhata International’ award, were all honoured during the event.
Vijay Kumar Shetty, Mumbai, who was awarded Karnataka Rajyostava Award 2008 ( Horanada Kannadiga) too gave a short performance of jokes and mimicry. The highlight of the programme was a fashion show by Abu Dhabi Bunts Sangha.
After a sumptuous lunch, Vishwanath Shetty’s ‘Nritya Roopaka’, ‘Mami Marmaaye’, and Yashodha Bhandary and team performed dance. Dubai Bunts Sangha’s energetic performers performed ‘Journey Through Bollywood’, which was well-appreciated by the audiences.
The special guests were 16 women of Pune’s Bunts Sangha who were specially called in to give a performance to make this anniversary a memorable one.
During the event, prizes were distributed to the children who have excelled in academics. Medals were distributed to Bunts Sangha’s throwball team for winning consecutive trophies.

‘Golden Voice’ Sarvotham Shetty compered the entire event and proposed the vote of thanks. He was well-assisted by Mangala Prakash Shetty and Mani Malini Rai.
