Kuwait: Carmel School Celebrates Ruby Jubilee

Kuwait, May 11:  Carmel School one of the leading educational Indian institute in Kuwait celebrated its RUBY JUBILEE on 9th May 2009 at its Auditorium in Khaitan.  Carmel School, Kuwait, established in 1969, is conducted by the Sisters of the Apostolic Carmel, who have several educational establishments all over India and the Andaman, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Africa and Rome. The school is primarily for Indians of all religious denominates.

The school is recognized by the Ministry of Education, Kuwait and affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. It is governed by the Registered Society of the Congregation of the Apostolic Carmel, India. The School prepares students for the All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE/Class X) and the All India Senior Secondary Certificate Examination(AISSCE/Class XII).Science and Commerce Streams are offered in the Senior School Certificate courses, for both boys and girls.





















The ruby jubilee celebration commenced at 5.30pm with National anthems of Kuwait and India followed by recitation of Holy Quran, prayer dance and welcome song.  Principal Sr. Maria Lytta welcomed the gathering. His Excellency Ajai Malhotra- The Indian Ambassador to Kuwait was the chief guest of the event.  Vatican Representative Arch Bishop Munjid El Hachem, Bishop Camillo Ballin, Abdulla al Basri- Manager of Education Affairs, Hamad Al Ateeqi (Sponsor of Carmel School, Salem Hamad Al Ateeqi, Abdulla Hamad Al Ateeqi, Hassan Adan (Manager of Ateequi Group), Polish Ambassador and representative of Japanese Embassy were the guest of honor.

Outstanding students and teachers who completed 25 years of service were honored by awards and mementos.  Principal Sr. Maria Lytta and Vice Principal Sr. Serena unveiled the Ruby Jubilee magazine and Bishop Camillo Balline released the same.  A power point presentation “Over the Sands of Time” was showed about the 40 years of Carmel School’s existence in Kuwait.









Students of the School entertained the audience with variety of programs such as Puppet Show, Bhangra, Arabic dance, Spanish dance, Rajasthan Folk dance and a small skit “Glasses and Lenses”.  Carmel Orchestra was the additional attraction in between the scenes.  His Excellency Ajai Malhotra officially launched Carmel Alimni website.  He also spoke few words on the achievements of the school and congratulated them for the same.  Maria Antao delivered the vote of thanks.  The well arranged program came to an end with Carmel Anthem sung by whole performers of the day gathered on the stage.

    Thanks Daijiworld Brought back a lot of memories. I joined that school in 1970 and studied there for my first 5 years in school. That school was fairly new then. Provided a very good foundation for my education.
