Mangalore, May 14:
Officials of the food and civil supplies department seized 100 Cylinders of Liquefied Petroleum Gas(LPG) and other equipments from a shop in the Lower Car street area in the city, where the LPG was being illegally transferred to commercial gas cylinders, on Thursday May 14.

The shop named Capital Chicken Stall in Mochukere in Lower Car Street was raided by the officials headed by Ishwarappa, superintendent of the department. The raid was conducted, based on a complaint regarding the illegal refilling of the LPG.

When officials raided the shop,  100 cylinders including small cylinders used in the auto rickshaws, regulators and other units were found inside the shop. The owners and workers fled and escaped from the spot when the officials conducted the raid.

The shop was involved with the refilling of the LPG cylinders illegally and also in filling the small cylinders used in auto rickshaws. After refilling, they were sold at a higher price than the other cylinders, an  official from the department said.

The officials have booked a case against the owner of the shop.
