Mangalore: Arthur Pereira’s Maiden Music Album ‘Taram’ Released

Mangalore, May 17: ‘Taram’, the debut Konkani music album by Dubai-based Arthur Pereira, hailing from Omzoor, was released by Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Parishat former president and ‘Mandd Sobhann’ Gurkar Eric Ozario, at a function held at Sandesha Lalit Kala Academy Auditorium here on Sunday May 17.
Arthur’s mother Celine Pereira opened the flap of her son’s first Konkani album while Canara Communications director Fr Victor Lobo blessed the album and conducted the prayer service on the occasion.
Ozario congratulated Arthur and said that Konkani needs budding musicians to take it to greater heights. Meanwhile, he also extended all possible support from Mandd Sobhan and welcomed him into their fold.
Bajjodi Canara Communications director Fr Victor Lobo, Daijiworld.com editor-in-chief Walter Nandalike, Konkani poet Andrew D’Cunha and director of forthcoming Konkani movie ‘Kazar’ as also Tulu movie ‘Badi’ Dr Richard Castelino, were present on the dais.
Nandalike said that Konkani had witnessed a great harvest this year, with more and more albums of promising musicians being released. He also urged Konkani music enthusiasts to buy the original albums and keep away from pirated copies.
Dr Castelino said that we should not focus on what we get out of society, instead we should concentrate on what we can contribute to society. He added that he has already given Arthur a chance to sing a song in his forthcoming Konkani movie ‘Kazar’ that will be premiered in September 2009.
Konkani poet Andrew D’Cunha analyzed ‘Taram’ that has covered patriotism, significance of mother, and enriching love.
Pereira presented a flower bouquet to all dignitaries and thanked them for supporting his endeavour.
Dubai, Mosaco Shipping LLC managing director and producer of Dr Castelino’s forthcoming Konkani movie ‘Kazar’ and also of ‘Taram’, Frank Fernandes, was present on the occasion.
Prima Pinto and group sang the prayer hymn while Ronald D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Deepak Andrade Gurpur compered the programme.
