Muscat: MCCP Celebrates Anniversary - Suraj Rebello New President

Muscat, May 17: Suraj Rebello, a prominent and multi-talented personality in the Mangalorean community has taken the charge as the new president of the Mangalorean Catholic Centre of the Parish (MCCP - Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ruwi) for the year 2009 – 2010 during the MCCP Annual Day function held on Friday, 15th May 2009 at the Main Parish Hall, Ruwi Church.
The day commenced at 10.30 a.m. with a “Thanks giving Holy Mass” in Konkani offered by Fr. Albert D’ Silva. The Konkani Choir under the leadership of Herald Rasquinha presented the melodious and spirit filled hymns. Noel Rasquinha supported the choir with music.
After the Holy Mass in Konkani , cultural program commenced at 12.00 noon, with the classical MCCP Anthem “Parameshwara” composed by Muscat’s Crown Price of the Konkani Music and veteran composer Oswald D’ Souza and presented by the popular singers of Muscat Dolphy Vaz, Jane Ida Pinto, Nirmala Goveas, Victoria Soares, Lancy Sequeira, Jovita Sequeira, Ivan Moras, Jacintha Serrao and Anitha Lobo. Music was provided by Meval Dantis. To add flavor to the words, a dance was performed by young growing talent Amanda Pinto and seasoned dancer Suni Concesso. Dilip Correa was the master of ceremony for the whole program and did a marvelous job with finest Konkani vocabulary . The entire function was presented in Konkani.
Fr. Albert D’ Silva offered prayers thanking Heavenly Father for His choicest blessings on the year gone by and seeking showers of blessings on the audience and the forthcoming year. MCCP President (2008-2009) Clarence Donald Pinto in his welcome speech expressed sincere gratitude to the sponsors, well wishers, core committee members, executive committee members and sub-committee members for their wholehearted support during 2008 – 2009.
Victoria Soares, the General Secretary of MCCP presented the annual report of 2008 - 2009. The Cheers from the crowd truly proved a vibrant year in the history of MCCP. Talking to veteran community activist Mr. Stanley T. H. Fernandes (Dattu), said that “ the passing committee under the leadership of Clarence Donald Pinto has been vibrant in the society and has executed new ideas and created awareness among people for new ventures.”
The sponsors of the event were Lancy Madtha, Integrated Freight & Logistics LLC – Dubai, Melwyn Twinkle Pereira, Dr. Christopher Dias, Glaxo Smith Kline and Aldin D’ Souza. The sponsors were honored by the Spiritual Advisor, Fr. Albert D’ Silva. The Executive Committee concluded the year with a brand new song “MCCP” composed by Apolinaris D’Souza and presented by the whole Executive Committee. The Executive Committee for the year 2008 – 2009 were as follows :

Suraj Rebello is known as the “Super Samaritan of the Mangalorean Community” in Muscat. He is the man behind numerous activities and programs held in Ruwi parish and MCCP. He was the most desired and active Parish Member of the Ruwi parish, responsible for the sports activities of the entire parish. He is also an advisor for the Youth Ministry of the parish. Suraj was the Main Coordinator of MCCP in the year 2006 – 2008 and has served in various capacities in the past.
Suraj is hailing from Bejai, Mangalore. His parents are Clarence and Gretta Rebello. Clarence Rebello is an ex-serviceman, an excellent Hockey Player. Gretta Rebello is well-known social activist, choreographer and current Corporator of Mangalore.
The entertainment program commenced immediately after the formal ceremony with a spiritual tableau titled “Jeju Jivanth Jala (Resurrection of Jesus) ” , directed by Lancy Sequeira and presented by Clifford Castelino, Sunil D Souza and Joel Sequeira. A scintillating and passionate song “Maige Muje” (Mother of Mine) composed by graceful composer of the Mangalorean Community of Muscat, Apolinaris D Souza and presented by Muscat’s Kogull (Muscat’s Nightingale) Jane Ida Pinto was appreciated by the whole audience. A foot tapping number was choreographed by Deepak D Souza, energetic and bright talent of the community and presented by Deepak D Souza , Amanda Pinto, Cheryl Fernandes, Evon Sequeira, Kimberly Dias and Lloyd Roche. Rib-tickling skit titled “Badda Lawry” written and directed by Deepak D’ Souza was presented by Walter Mendonca, Lancy Lobo & Flavia D’Souza.
Donald Pinto, prominent community leader and MCCP core committee member presented the by-laws of the MCCP.
