Defaulters of house tax in Lucknow drawn out by playing loud 'Dhols'

Daijiworld Media Network - Lucknow (SHP)

Lucknow, Jul 3: An interesting way has been formulated by Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) to make people pay their pending house taxes as there were several individuals listed as defaulters for not paying the tax.

The LMC hired a band who played Dhols (drums) at the gates of the listed defaulters. The session was carried on for a few hours to trigger embarrassment and attention to the defaulters.

On Wednesday, in a couple of areas, the band was seen playing the drums accompanied by a person holding a banner having notice of warning.

One of the occasions involved drawing the attention outside a hotel, where the owner had an unpaid amount of Rs 19 lac. In reaction to the embarrassment suffered, he immediately settled his dues which he tried avoiding for the past few years.
