Hyderabad, Jun 3: A final year master’s degree student in Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-H) committed suicide by hanging himself in his hostel room, leaving behind a suicide note that will make everyone think about how important it is to educate the next generation on handling stress effectively than scoring high in all subjects.
In his eight page long suicide note Mark Andrew Charles, who was doing his masters in design and had recently completed his second-year exams, says he is taking this extreme step due to his ‘poor grades’ and ‘inability to secure a good job’. As reported by TOI, the publication has received a copy of his suicide note, in which the youth from Varanasi wrote, 'I don’t have a job, probably wouldn’t get one. No one hires a loser! It’s amazing to look at my grade sheet. A few more letters and it’ll look like an alphabet chart.”

After the shocking suicide of Anirudhya Mummaneni from the same institute, who jumped off the seven-storey hostel building in February this year, this is the second incident that shocked everyone including students, parents and teachers.
Apologizing to his parents for all the sacrifice they made for him, Mark wrote, 'I did have dreams, just like everyone, but now, it’s pretty empty. All this positivity, the constant smiling, telling people that I am ok, even though I’m not'.
In the letter, addressed to his parents and friends, he blamed himself for not making use of the opportunity that he got. 'Two years away from home, at the best institute, with the best of people around me, I wasted it all'.
He also requested his parents to hand over his body to any medical college so that he would make a good specimen cadaver to the future doctors of India. His note ends with a request to his friends that reads, 'Ankit, Rajjo, IT me kaam karte karte apni life matt bhul jana. Live a little everyday. Ek hi zindagi mili hain'.
