Beltangady:  Voters Supported BJP in Protest against Religious Conversions: DVS

Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady (SP)

Beltangady, May 30: State BJP president and Udupi-Chikmagalur MP D V Sadanand Gowda expressed the opinion that the people have overwhelmingly supported the BJP in an expression of solidarity against religious conversions. "The people are not in need of an administration that follows pub culture. Those who led a malicious propaganda against the BJP, even though it had no role in the attacks on churches, have been given a thorough drubbing," he added.

Addressing a gathering on the occasion of the a programme organized at Kinyamma Yane Gunavatiamma Hall of Guruvayankere as part of the victory rally of the BJP and thanksgiving to the party activists on Friday May 29, Gowda said the BJP is not shaken by the setback the NDA has suffered. "We will ably and affectively fight step-motherly treatment if any of the union government," he said. He also requested the newly inducted union ministers from the state, to extend support to the state government in the matter of development. He reiterated that the state government does not believe in politics of friction.

Dakshina Kannada MP Nalinkumar Kateel in his address said that the protection of Hindutva and development of the district are the only agendas he would be working for. "I will be indulging in politics in such a way that my voters do not get cheated," he clarified.

BJP district president Monappa Bhandary presided. Former minister Gangadhar Gowda, former MLA Prabhakar Bangera, BJP state council member Nimiraj Shetty, district BJP former president Pratapsimha Nayak, general secretary Prasad Kumar and various other leaders were present.

Zilla panchayat member Sundar Salian in his address, paid tributes to the party workers for making the victory possible. Taluk BJP president Kushalappa Gowda welcomed. Srinivas Rao presented the programme.

Dear Mr. Ganesh Bhat Mangalore, Having been recognized that this is a 21st century and why not recognized by you of human rights? To convert/accept a faith is a personal choice/human right. Nobody has the right to enforce/proselytize/dictate/terrorize any citizen to accept his or her faith unless he or she agrees whole heartedly or embrace another faith.

Mr. Bhat advise your community not to eat meat so that the meat eaters may get cheaply. Mr. Sadananda Gowda is provoking JDS to remain as JDS because without which BJP certainly had been routed in the state of Karnataka (except South Kanara and Udupi District). Mr. D. V. Sadananda Gowda’s BJP has won only because of Vote Split by the JDS and only because of JDS the bjp is surviving.

Any way win is win. If conversion was the main issue what about Mr. Modi’s Gujarat tally 15 bjp and 11 Congress? What about the base of Madhya Pradesh tally 15 bjp and 12 Congress, Rajastan, Orissa and even UP bjp has lost many seats. Congress is the only one party provides security to all the citizens and vulnerable to the national security.

The diligent works of congress in 50 years was the result that India has become the 5th largest economy in the world. BJP cannot hijack the developmental works of congress through Indian shining campaign. Congress alone is capable to uplift/shine India and Indian citizens

Ganesh Bhatre, what is the actual problem with you guys? For ages, you have been forcing people what you want and what you don''t. First it was with the help of Manu Smriti and now trying a bit with Constitution. If such a smaller community that you represent is trying to dictate terms to a larger community, these kind of repurcussion are bound to take place.

Don''t advice people to become vegetarian. You want people to follow your religion, your views, your lifestyle and now even food habits. Instead asking the larger community of non-vegetarians to be vegetarians, why don''t you the smaller community convert youselves into non-vegetarians? Why is that always Indians have be at your beck and call? Earlier you could dominate easily since others were not educated. But now that others are more educated than you guys, you are feeling insecure. You know that you cannot be dictating terms.

This is the reason that you are bringing in religion to retain your supremacy. Don''t try these antics. People of entire India, except Karnataka have outrightly rejected all these things. And in Karnataka, it has actually not been supported either. It is the lack of political consciousness of the people of Karnataka which has resulted in this kind of debacle. Know well that the day, the voters feel that enough is enough, we don''t hesitate to throw BJP out of power.

If voters have rejected Congress, once it proved too much after 50 years, voters can reject even BJP without hesitation. And the day, BJP is out of power in Karnataka, it will realize how wrong they were in promoting religion-based politics. Religion is for life and not for death. BJP is coffin is already ready. The final nail will be hit in Karnatak later or sooner. Then let''s see which issue will bring it back once again....

BJP has scored a big Zero in 9 major states and in 5 of the 7 small North-Eastern states. Its also a Zero in the 4 metros and at least 12 major cities. Even in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, BJP has scored much less than their expectation.Instead of trying to do an introspection and analyze the reasons for this dismal and pathetic performance in Elections 2009, Sadanand Gowda and Nalin Kumar are back to fanning communal fires, a major reason for their defeat nationally and are possibly leading themselves to the exit path in 2014.

If every one is converted as vegetarian, there will be no dispute, no chaos. Hence every one has to make publicity of vegetarianism.

BJP should well understand that they got votes not because of Hindutva or Religious Conversion. They got votes because of 60 years Congress Bad Politics and Rule. The Voters are looking for Development and not Division. If you fail in these 5 years and think only of Hindutva and Religion you will be shown the Exit Door. So it is time to change and think in the right direction. Also BJP should not adopt divisive politics as the Central Govt is watching them. Even Narendra Modi has toned down his behaviour after Supreme Court Decision to thoroughly probe all ministers involved in Riots and also after Election ''09. Time to change and think of Development and Prosperity and not Hindutva.

Prove in Parliment how many people have embraced christianity by way of conversion. I know you dont have any guts to say this in Parliment cos your attendance in Parliamet is  nill.  Here you can only fool people of Udupi and Mangalore only. Rest of the people in India have  all come to know the true colour of BJP and rightly thrown them out of Power. BJP has been reduced to such a shame in this election that it is no longer considered as a national party. It has assumed the status of a regional party like the DMK or BSP or RJD or SP. BJP cannot think of coming to power at the centre for atleast another 15 years cos the congress leadership at the centre is so strong that a weak BJP at the centre will be crushed and its ideologies burried in a few years time.

These MPs should remember that all over India, BJP lost because of narrow and communal agenda, but unfortunately, in our state people elected 19 MPs on BJP ticket. Majority of Hindus all over India are tolerant and secular and that is the reason they have give a clear mandate for a secular parties led by Congress. I think BJP has not learnt a lesson from what the people of this country taught them in national level. Its very clear that BJP wont survive if it discards its fundamentalist hindutva ideoology. BJP is bent upon misguiding the people of karnataka. People are not interested in religion or mandir/masjid issues. Why cant BJP enact a law in karnataka, that all temples are open for shudras and dalits, dalits and shudras can perform poojas and rituals in temples and issue a decree ordaining that purohitva is no more brahmin monopoly. Instead of attacking other religions, let BJP come out with remedial steps for discouraging dalits and shudras abandoning their native religion and converting to other religions. Let them preach and practice equality and social justice in hindu society and I am sure this will become a revolution and conversion will die down own its own. Your hindutva dont treat dalits and shudras as human beings and you treat them like animals. Spiritual hindutva only preaches love and equality where as your misguided political hindutva preaches hate and devides the socieity. Now in Karnataka you have the wind in your favour. But again you have to understand that tide may change and you may lose out to some one else. Please dont devide the society further. For us Udupites, you are an outsider and you have no idea and knowledge about our feelings. We shall stand against those who try to devide us ethinic and religious lines. We are basically Kannadigas/Indians and Udupites firtst and then we are a hindu, muslim and christian. Our faith comes second. As far as national unity and integration is concerned we are all Indians. Pls stop this devide and rule policy. Live and let others live. Let there be peace and tranquility. I am very sad to know your narrow mindedness. Secondly you are a elected representative of people of your constituency. You are not the representatives of hindus alone. You didnt contest the election to the board of administration of a mutt or a temple, but you contested for a parliamentarian seat of a democratic country which is ruled by constitutional values. Please try and respect Indian constitution. Thats better for you. Treat all the people of your constituency with respect love and equality. This is a piece of advice from one your well wishers.

Gowda! If you analyze the vote shares BJP got it is not a mandate for Hindutva or protest against religious conversions. BJP got lesser votes than Congress, but Congress couldn’t convert these votes into seats and even JDS & third front of have some votes. If you summarize the whole voting shares Congress, JDS & other secular parties have more votes than BJP. If there is any second saffron party than BJP in Karnataka then BJP’s vote would have been shared between the saffron party thus gain for Congress and other secular parties. STOP! There must be better issues for the politicians to rise than the issue of conversion again and again. I am a nominal Christian who is hardly concerned what faith one professes but I am continuously irked when the issue of conversion is raised at regular periods. Many times people on this forum have discussed this issue, debated and provided insights that must have cleared the air. Over a period of time this issue will get saturated and people will be bored to replay the episode. There are better issues for people to vote like jobs, basic necessities like water & electricity, good roads, bureaucracy etc. People in DK have voted BJP for better governance and not the least for religious conversion.

Dear Daiji World Readers, Please dont get affected by Mr.Sadananda Gowda''s comments. Our Country is the world's largest Democratic Country,& everyone has the right to express his opinion. Today's world is filled with the power of Knowledge,so whatever your opinions are, they reflect yourself, your education, your up bringing & more over your Image. Our Country has not embraced Hinduism yesterday or today. Its been in the Indian Mythology, which our so called leaders are hardly aware of. The days of false promises are over. So in my opinion feel that ,if your unfit to represent the people, you better look out for another job. Please donot interpret the peoples mandate in a wrong perspective.& moreover do not take undue advantage of our sober & docile nature. In fact this very speech ,talks in depth, about the immaturity that politicians have attained in politics so far. we have voted you back to power, thats B''cos we donot have much of a choice to choose from. If you have been under the impression that we have started living in harmony off late, you are sadly mistaken. Our Country is multi relegious, multi ethnic, multi lingual,& multi cultural in all the ways & walk of life & history dates back a few thousand years. Does the BJP stand for all Hindus or some Hindus only? If a man does not do his husbandly duties, his wife will not sit and wait around. She is bound to seek the arms of another willing man. And there is no shortage of men who will not think twice of doing the deed when a vulnerable or willing housewife arrives on the scene. This is the same with the controversy surrounding conversion. Why do people convert to another religion? Can we all agree that the reason they convert is because the new religion offered them hope and other related benefits that the original religion did not offer? You can cry till your lungs burst about the activities of the evangelists but as long as you have a vulnerable population that you hardly care expect that they convert to another religion. The ants will keep moving where the sugar is. It''s the law of nature that you cannot change.

Instead of blaming other religions for conversions, improve the quality, marketing, and incentives of Hinduism to retain your heard . The great ancient philosophy , which was the foundation for most of the religions , suffered and eventually liberated from the Moghul dynasty , British dynasty but it is not yet liberated from the Priestly dynasty (Pourihityashahi) and its social inequality. Focus on spreading socially beneficial moral essences and human values rather than rituals and hatred to revive Hinduism and also BJP.

Mr Gowda, Lalu has already said that power is not permanent. Learn something from that wise old man! Remember You have lost in Orissa, Gujrath...Dont forget that you have won in Karnataka by default. Finally, dont forget that it would be the good Hindus who would teach BJP a lesson. How long will you succeed in spreading hatred and violence mr Gowda? Concentrate on doing some good work in this state, please....

When we have so many issues in daily life like food, water, road, clothes, home and education it is surely unfortunate of the people of Karnataka that these people who speak about communities and hatred came in power. I am really surprised that party having agenda that we build Mandir got vote, please God is in our heart and I think God even like that people who pray with pure peaceful heart, so please now you are in power, provide to common man with living needs and peace to remember God

It is quite natural for DVS and his party continue to talk about Religious Conversions, Religious Terrorism and minority appeasement measures of congress govt, these talks that won them votes. It is better to leave it to the majority voters wisdom to analyze and realize the truth by themselves, as no amount of facts or logic could change their feelings at this stage as they are charged extraordinarily with propaganda campaign of BJP.

In USA they fight election on the issues that, what they can do for the country. Once the election is over all of them including the one that lost the election supports the president on all the issues of nation building. They think in broader context and utilise the resources to keep all the Americans happy including those who did not vote for the elected one. In India we have a different scenario, never ending religious issues and how to undermine the weaker sections? In USA they have more religions than we in India have, still they don’t fight for silly reasons like us and that helps the country to prosper. If we continue to fight according to our crooked politician’s direction, seeing India a developed country will remain a dream.

DV Sadanad Gowda and Mr. Kateel should know that winning election many a time is either by hook or crook or by luck. You cannot always calim your WIN as a support for your policy programme. In India conversion especially in Schedule caste and tribes is taking place since centuries. And it is because of Attrocities of UPPER Caste under MANUWAD.It May be officially difficult to Prove the Govt.''s hand in Church Attack and Anti Muslim Cases, but these BJP Leaders cannot fool people by just saying that they are against such acts. Because the Sangh Parivar of which BJP is a MEMBER cannot discard the Policy of RSS based on Golvalkar''s and Savarkar''s Ideology which not only create hatred against Minorities in the hearts and minds of common Hindu but also provide logistic and practical support to act accordingly.

They have achieved their purpose of consolidating the hindu vote on the bogie of religious conversions.Conversions have to be tackled legally and not by attacking churches and pubs.A sinster plot prior to the elections and will not last long.

BJP has won by crooked methods and not be straight forward ways. This part is only concentrating towards ''Hindutva'', spreading hatred among other religions.
