Mangalore: City’s Sikh Community Enjoys Folk Dances on ‘Punjabi Night’

Mangalore, May 31: The Sikh community in the city celebrated ‘Punjabi Night’ with a traditional folk dance programme in the presence of Master Mohanlal, transport minister of Punjab, at T V Ramana Pai Convention Hall on Sunday May 31.
The programme consisted of traditional ‘Bhangra’ and ‘Giddha’ performances arranged by the Guru Singh Sabha Society.
Speaking after the inauguration, Mohanlal said the Sikh community has the unique characteristic of sacrificing themselves which has brought the community recognition.
Revathi, wife of the minister, was also present.
MLA Yogish Bhat, and mayor Shankar Bhat were the chief guests.
Aravind Singh, commissioner, central excise, Haribhai J Kotech from Gujarath Samaj, Dileep Jain from Rajasthan Samaj, Shiva Kumar Sharma from Haryana Samaj, and Muraleedhar Ramani from Sindhi Samaj were the guests.
Vishwanath, a social worker, gave a brief introduction of the minister.
S Mahipal Singh Lohiya, president of Guru Singh Sabha Society, welcomed the guests and vice-president, Balvinder Singh Virdi proposed the vote of thanks.
