Panaji, Jun 1: Goa Home Minister Ravi Naik’s controversial comments on young women with dupatta has forced the Chief Minister Digamber Kamat remain tight lipped amidst severe media bashing.
 
“I don’t want to comment anything on this,” Kamat reacted during a press conference when reporters questioned him about the home minister’s controversial statement.
 
Naik during launching of Goa Police’s quick response squad last week had stated that `girls should stop wearing dupattas.’
 
The statement was a part of reply to the crucial issue of a serial killer Mahanand Naik who has confessed of killing 16 women by strangulating them with dupatta.
 
The local media had strongly criticized the statement with women’s organization reacting against the comment.
 
The chief minister who avoided commenting on home minister’s statement, however, said that the state government has given free hand to the police to investigate into the heinous crime.
 
“I have told police to go to the root cause of the crime,” Kamat said complimenting the team of officers who investigated the crime.
 
Police had to venture into jungles to get the evidences. It’s a tough task, he said.
