Mangaluru, Jul 20: The Institute of St Ann’s Pre-Primary Education, organized a competition on Cooking without Fire - ‘Sapori Unici’. The competition was conducted with a view to create awareness about the nutritional value of food cooked without flame, the necessity and advantages of healthy eating and to encourage students to stay away from the junk food.
Through this activity the students learnt the spirit of teamwork, culinary skills, appreciating the hard work put into cooking. The aim of the activity was also to provide a platform for students to showcase their talents and explore new areas of interest.
The students were divided into four groups, each having 12 members having a special name, suited for their variety of items and costume. The names of the groups were –‘Green village restaurant’, ‘Hello, My name is Tasty’, ‘Blue Kitchen’ and ‘Sugar & Spice’.
A short programme was organized by the students. The programme began with an Invocation song sung by our students. Sr Shubha, the secretary, the Apostolic Carmel Educational Society; Sr Maria Kripa, joint secretary; all the heads of the Institutions of St Ann’s Campus, sisters of St Ann’s Convent and the staff of St Ann’s TTI were present. Each group came up to introduce themselves very creatively. It was indeed so much fun to watch them with a chef’s cap and a colorful apron. The entire programme was compered by Chaitra, the class representative. Sr Reethika, the coordinator and the teachers C D’Couto and Vilma D'Souza were the inspiring and motivating forces for the competition.
