Mumbai, Jul 22: For fifth day in a row, the residents of Siddharth Colony in Chembur faced power cuts. The power cut lasted for over 12 hours due to non-payment of electricity dues. An unpaid amount of Rs 77 crore is pending since 14 years.
Adani Electricity officials claimed that the residents of Siddharth Colony were sent repeated reminders for the payment of their bills, a data showed that over 93% residents from the Colony were liable to settle their dues since over a decade.
The residents are considering to approach the court looking for relief. Some political parties even visited Adani office, unfortunately, the officials said that the power will be restored only after the bills are paid.
This is the second time such a situation has taken place, in June 2018, power cut persisted for four days in a row.
