Mangaluru: Stricter enforcement of traffic rules – Police book several cases

Mangaluru, Jul 24: The police of the city, under the leadership of police commissioner Sandeep Patil are determined to reduce the traffic violations and accidents in the city. 

Giving an update on the enforcement of new traffic control drive, Sandeep Patil, in a statement to the press said, “The police personnel of the city are carrying out a special drive to reduce the accidents and to enforce the traffic rules strictly,” 

 

“ In the month of July so far ,the traffic police have booked 250 cases of drunken driving, 90 cases for over-speeding, 250 cases for using mobile phones while driving, 170 cases for jumping red signal and 300 cases for carrying more passengers than the permissible limit.” he informed.

    The traffic branch is the front foot of the force and I'm glad to see that CP Mangalore is doing a great job! Please coordinate with the civil administration and see that parking areas are also designated all over the city. Presently, it seems all the slots are earmarked only for autos. Other vehicles too need to be accommodated so that the roads are left free for traffic.

    Can you also strictly remove the encroachment on roads and pavement by building owners in the city which is also a cause for congestion and accidents.

    Enforcement of traffic rule is very important. There is should be safe and comfortable bus, rickshaw , car, and van journey. Book people who are over-speeding, not observing Zebra crossings, not observing senior citizens seats, bad attitudes of drivers and talking unnecessarily while driving.

    Dear Mr. Patil & Mr. Shetty - Hats off to you and your team. We only hope our Citizens take rules positively and follow them.
    Like one of the comments say - please take action against harsh horns, special flashy head lights and more importantly Bus Drivers. Bus drivers generally think that only they have all rights reserved on all roads & others do not matter. Stringent action needs to be taken on these bus drivers who horn harshly & continuously until their way is cleared on roads.
    Mobiles while driving and two wheeler riding is worst still.
    Parking, please visit or drive by Bejai New Road any day in the morning during office hours and evening again around 4:30 to 7:00 pm. Roads are widened but only for the benefit of people to park on either sides, leaving no space for pedestrians and other vehicles. It is really a menace and nuisance.
    Stay Strict and stay Blessed always for your Great work.!!

    can we see the similar strictness on the reckless buses driving in and around Mangalore. It's very visible and evident... the way they drive so reckless while peak hours, competing with each other, honking, blocking each other in turn blocking the entire traffic... all these are visible in many places or bus stops... but I see a silence by authorities in this subject, whether police or RTO. Either we should get to see actions on these buses / drivers OR justify why the silence.

    Its great. We have educate specially the local busses. Drivers are just bothered about their trip not the public around. Speacially in the city limits they have to follow the strict rules. Fines should be imposed to them.

    Heavy penalty/Fine.. imprisonment is the only Solution for these Unruly Janatha. Be very very strict..
    This should happen in every department....
    keep your houses and surroundings clean..shop fronts..
    are all their own responsibilities..
    otherwise.let the NAGARPALIKAS... municipality fine them.
    also Health inspectors: food vendors/restaurants ..should all follow SWATCH THA... Clean and healthy.

    250 cases using mobile phones while driving is enough. Almost many sccoter riders and drivers using phones while driving which is dangerous to public life. Better traffic police have rounds in inner roads like Falnir, Attavar, Jeppu where many students and young men violate traffic rules and also dont wear helmets too. Book them

    Dear Commissioner Mr. Patil, and DCP Mr. Manjunath Shetty, shall I request with You both a great Favour. Please kindly order removal of EXTRA headlights installed by arrongant Young vehicle owners. During night time driving through narrow roads these drivers turn on their extra large Hallogen lights blinding oncoming driver's vision. Myself faced with difficulty many times on narrow Kambla Road and Pandeswar Road.
    Some vehicles have Four extra lights added plus Two original makes Six lights focusing on opposite side drivers. Again I beg this favor.

    Please continue to monitor and stop this nuisance and annoyance of the loud horns that the buses and trucks use. There is this bus No.15 (pink colour), which, uses the loud wavering horn right from Fr.Muller's hospital past Valencia circle every day at 6:55 am as if it is locomotive on the move. These drivers should be punished for using such very loud horns. What happened to the no-horn day on Wednesdays? Implementation of the rules is the key for discipline.

    Sir, Being strict is the only way. for discipline.
    Actually, every Indian should be inducted into the army after 12th grade for 3 years of Military Boot camp for 100% Discipline.. ..multi-tasking: skill developt:
    Nationalistic spirit: we are one.. united happy family.
    Yes, be very vary strict Penalise all those who break the law.
    in fact, every department should penalize defaulters so that they can run their departments from these collections.. with great efficiency.....spot on.
    This is the only way..

    An excellent move. Drunken Driving particularly needs to be controlled and that apart over speeding, overtaking from the wrong side, haphazard parking and taking passengers beyond the permissible limits need to be checked.

    It is good to observe that under the leadership of The Mangalore City Commissioner Mr. S. Patil and DCP Mr. Laxmit Ganesh and other Police Officers Mangalore City is being ruled as it should be.

    Kudos to the Police.

    Very very good move, Sir! Appreciated.
    I also reiterate to keep a close watch on those 2 wheelers who detach rear view mirrors( RVM) immediately after registration. While overtaking, changing the lanes or turning left / right, RVM play an important role.
