Kasargod, Jul 25: Two young children, who were siblings, and who were being treated in a hospital at Mangaluru since the last some days on account of fever, breathed their last, without responding to treatments.

Moideen Cinan (4.5 years) and Fidaruttul Munsah (8 months), children of Siddique from Kanyappady were the ones who lost their battle for life. While Fidaruttul's end came on the evening of July 23, Cinan breathed his last on Wednesday morning.

There was no clarity on the cause of the death of these children. A few days back these children had visited Mugurod, the native place of the children's mother. It is said that the children were infected with fever by the time they returned from Mugurod. Doctors at the hospital said that in the light of this information, blood samples of the parents of the children have been collected and sent to the laboratory at Pune for testing.

A team of doctors, in view of the mysterious cause behind the demise of these children, visited the house of the father of the children at Kanyappady and the maternal native place, Mugurod. Investigation is on about the possibility of some mysterious disease having spread in the region. At the same time, the people are panicky on account of the sudden deaths of two children from a single family.

The district medical officer said that the mother of the children too suffers from fever and that she would be admitted into either Pariyaram Medical College Hospital or Kozhikode Medical College for treatment if found necessary.
