District Magistrate bans religious activities on roads in Aligarh

Daijiworld Media Network - Aligarh (SHP)

Aligarh, Jul 26: On Friday, Aligarh District Magistrate, CB Singh banned all religious events from being conducted on the roads. Singh states that he took the decision, considering the religious stress usually faced in the city.

One of the reasons for carrying out this ban was when right-wing organisation started performing Maha Aarti every Tuesday and Saturday.

Singh stated that performing religious activities and causing disturbance to others is breaking the law and order of the state.

Earlier in the month, on July 5, an incident of religious unrest took place when a Muslim man was beaten up by members of his community for reading Ramayana, following which police officials registered a case against the accused.

Good decision. But I think it is better to implement all over the country.

I agree with this ruling. Public places are not for religious gathering. They should apply for permission on special festivals for processions, and carry out other religious activities and celebrations in a closed community hall.
