Mangaluru: Murder attempt - Culprit flees leaving youth injured

Mangaluru, Jul 27: An attempt on the life of a youth was made at around 9.30 pm on Thursday July 25 at Nekkilagudde, Malemar in the city with a knife. 

Ratan Raj (28), a resident of Mangaladevi here, was injured in the attack that was launched with a knife. He stands admitted into a private hospital here. The accused, Dheeraj (25) from Kodikal here fled from the scene after the attack. 

Ratan Raj and Puneet from Mangaladevi are friends. Ratan Raj had a longstanding enmity with Dheeraj. He had revealed about this to his friend, Puneet. Puneet had promised to mediate between the two and end the enmity. 

Puneet had asked Ratan Raj and Dheeraj to come near Nekkilagudde, Malemar in the city on Thursday night. Ratan Raj and Dheeraj who met there, engaged in heated exchange of words. In a fit of anger, Dheereaj suddenly drew a knife which he had concealed in his motor bike, and launched lethal attack on Ratan before escaping, police said. Ratan sustained stab injury. 

It is said that this incident came as a shock to Puneet, who did not expect this to happen. Puneet also was not aware that Dheeraj was equipped with a knife, it is gathered. 

The police said that injured Ratan is out of danger. They are now trying to arrest the accused who is at large. A murder attempt case has been registered in this connection in Kavoor police station.

    Nothing shocking here... many more to happen like this... when murderers who have been acquitted for murders are roaming around after bail .... who will be scared of law.... Our garbage law system is such that.. murders roam around freely and this will definitely be a source of strength to the youth who think they can come out easily even if they harm or murder anyone
