Bengaluru, Jul 27: Newly sworn in chief minister of Karnataka, it appears, has chosen to go back to spelling his name as 'Yediyurappa', which he used till some years back, from the current 'Yeddyurappa'. In the letter he had addressed to the governor, Vajubhai Vala, claiming to be enjoying the support of majority MLAs in the assembly and staking claim to form the new government, Yeddyurappa spelt his name as 'Yediyurappa'.

Perhaps based on advice of astrologists and numerologists, Yeddyurappa had changed the spelling of his name from 'Yediyurappa' to 'Yeddyurappa' in 2007. Now he perhaps wants to nullify the above modification.

Now he seems to be feeling that the old name would augur well for him as he wants to forget the past and concentrate on remaining in power till the entire term of the current assembly, ie 2023. Yeddyurappa has scraped through the rule enforced by the BJP not to choose anyone above 75 years of age to important posts as the party could not find a leader in Karnataka who is as eminent and popular as Yeddyurappa. Yeddurappa is now 76.
