Kasargod, Jul 27: Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, visited Bela Kumaramangalam Subramanya temple near Kasargod on Saturday, July 27. He was welcomed with suitable government respects.

Accompanied by his wife Maitree Wickremesinghe, the Sri Lankan PM performed Ganapati Homa, Navakabhisheka, Ashlesha Bali and Alankara Pooja followed by Mahapooja. Rangapooja was held on Friday night itself. The Prime Minister has offered the poojas to ward off misfortunes as advised by astrologer Bela Padmanabha Sharma.

Hindu priests Vishnu Asra, Bela Ramachandra Adiga, Kilingar Gopalakrishna Bhat and Muralikrishna Asra lead the Vedic programmes. International astrologer Bela Padmanabha Sharma, managing committee office bearers B Vasanth Pai Badiadka, Sridhar Prasad and others were present. Strict security was provided under the leadership of Kasargod SP James Thomas, DySP Shilpa D and assistant DC Arun K Vijayan.

On July 26, the Sri Lankan PM had visited Kollur Mookambika temple and later arrived Kasargod. He stayed at Taj resort in Bekal. After visiting Bela Kumaramangala Subrahmanya temple on July 27 at 8.45 am, he left to Mangaluru by helicopter at 11.20 am.

He was given a send-off at Bekal Lalith Resort Helipad. Kasargod deputy commissioner Dr D Sajith Babu, Channai’s DC Vishwanath Aponsu and Kasargod SP James Thomas were present.

Wickremesinghe expressed his gratitude to Kerala authorities and its people. He appreciated the security provided for him.

Tight security in the district was maintained in the leadership of the DC for three days, in the backdrop of Sri Lankan prime minister's visit.

    "The Prime Minister has offered the poojas to ward off misfortunes as advised by astrologer Bela Padmanabha Sharma". It's sad that such a high profile man is being superstitious and wasting his valuable time and energy going behind it.

    @Aziz, Vittal in the final analysis everything is superstitious. We believe there is a God, but there are people who assert that He is superstitious.
