Mangaluru: Congress to approach Supreme Court against state BJP govt - MLC Ivan D'Souza

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jul 28: "Congress is mulling to approach the Supreme Court, if chief minister (CM) B S Yeddyurappa continues in power after proving his majority on the floor of the house," informed MLC Ivan D'Souza at a press conference here on Saturday, July 27.

Ivan further said, "Governor has violated the rule of the constitution and has invited Yeddyurappa to form the government. Supplementary points are being collected in order to approach the court against this decision. A discussion is held in this regard with the KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao. Congress party is going to take a clear stand on this,"

"B S Yeddyurappa has resorted to revenge politics from the moment he assumed the chair of CM. He has written a letter to the chief secretary to withhold the decisions on transfers and administration-related matters that the former CM Kumaraswamy took at the end of his tenure in July. This letter is written to the chief secretary by Yeddyurappa, when he was assigned CM. This is against the constitution. If he had written this letter after taking oath as CM, it would have carried weight. This is a clear evidence of revenge politics," added Ivan.

Speaking further on the subject, Ivan said, "If the BJP governments stalls the various Bhagya plans and developmental programmes that were undertaken during the tenure of Siddaramaiah and Kumaraswamy governments, then Congress party is going to protest during the assembly session as well as outside."

"Separate wards are opened in government and also in private hospitals in Mangaluru in the wake of wide-spread dengue fever. I have discussed this issue with the DC on Saturday," said Ivan. He also requested the private hospitals to offer free treatment for people affected with dengue.

Ivan Bhai, can we get down to business to start some real development in DK. All your party members are able to take care of their constituency. Party highcommand is stationed in Delhi to attend to SC Approach. Why are you bothered so much, is it to cover your failures you are highlighting others mistakes?

Jai Ivan! He should be given tickets for next assembly elections from Mangalore South instead of defeated Lobo. Also give him tickets from Moodabidri and Kaup ! Make him single choice for lokhsabha elections 2024 also!
Let Ivan become Rahul gandhi of coastal Karnataka!
    Jai Ivan Jai!!

I support some comments out here or perhaps in a different article . Cong has to bite the nail and accept that its down in the dumps. The party currently does not even have a president or leader.
Coming to the DK Cong set up. Its high time the old leaders who have been tried, tested and lost are asked to retire . If not they have to be packed off gracefully. New faces , with leaders within the age of 30 max should be selected and given a chance. This new strategy may revive the party.

Edwin,, I agree with your views, Its time over. These press conferences by previous Congress leaders is doing more damage than benifit. Yesterday we had one . I think the likes of Ivan, Ramanath Rai, JR Lobo M Bava, Mithun Rai etc should retire from Congress voluntarily. They have to be immediately replaced by efficient and hungry to serve new young leaders.

Yes, you are spot on. Mr, Poojari was fielded 5 times despite successive defeats. His outdated 1970 strategies back fied and this led to the formation of DK being the BJP fortress . We had Ramnath Rai in 2018, Mithun Rai in 2019 also adopting the same and the result was obvious. Hope Cong has learnt the lesson the hard way. Its not too late. A complete face lift is mandated for revival.

I fail to comprehend on this episode or what this gentleman is trying to convey. The Congress needs a total leadership revamp and a absolute facelift nationwide. Even if its new comers it has to be young guns with new ideas. Golden oldies with vintage mind set , outdated strategies and ideas should gracefully exit. The party has to be led like a corporate rather than banking on a 'surname' and 'dynasty'. At times we have to learn from our enemies.

If you go to supreme court what is the benefit for the people of Karnataka? People are fed up with all these drama. One thing we noticed last 15 - 20days neither BJP nor congress bothered about state prestige, common man issues and development. All the politicians fighting to cover their election expenses

The day you supported and helped JDS to form the Govt you lost your vote base and peoples faith in the State. The central BJP leadership kept quiet as they were eyeing long term benefits rather than your fire fighting tactics . No wonder they are are known for their Chanakyaneeti. Your party dug its grave deeper in the 14th months. If an election is announced today or anytime in the future you will be routed . Revival is a very very distant dream.

People of Karnataka are watching this disgraceful, disgusting, fiasco, played for days weeks, to grab power in our state.... The only sensible option left is to enforce President rule n declare new election in the state.... It is a foregone conclusion, that BJP will sweep the poll, with an absolute majority !!!!!!

After the assembly elections in 2018 Yadiurappa was called by the governor to form the government. Accordingly Yeddi took out hand become CM and within 2 days he lost the majority and stepped down. Once again how governor gave him second chance before next election. Is i correct as per our constitution ...???

Oh...man.. Plz dont do that... We have seen enough drama all just for power and to mint money... Now its BSYs turn. Let him make use of the cituation too. That poor fellow is trying day and night non stop just for a seat of CM. He has spent a lots and lots of money to reach to this level and you guys are not giving him a chance. For us as the people of KA, it doesnt make any difference which ever party rules because we are going to get "looted" in the name of " developmental projects" . Atleast let us live in peace.. Anyways True loves' prayers from a week, are answered !

Relax Ivan. This ploy wont help you to ganer support or votes. When your party who had 77 seats went and pleaded a 30 seat holder to form that Govt, it was okay and mandated a Vijayotsava. So first instrospect what happened in 14 months. Daily drama, infighting, fighting for ministerial berths, resort running , hiding, fist cuffs in the resort , film launching, JDS family launching , the list is endless you were quiet . When being booted out , you want to go to the SC.
    Come on!
