Bengaluru: Chief minister B S Yediyurappa wins trust vote in Assembly

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (AM)

Bengaluru, Jul 29: Chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa on Monday, July 29 won the trust vote in the Karnataka Assembly through voice vote.

"Yediyurappa has won the confidence motion he moved by voice vote with more yes than no's. As there is a request for division of votes by the opposition parties, he has proved that he has majority support in the House," Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar declared in the House.

Earlier, Yediyurappa moved the motion to prove that he enjoyed majority legislative support in the House.

The motion was put to voice vote after Congress leader Siddaramaiah and Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) leader and former Chief Minister H D Kumarasway spoke on the motion briefly.

BJP state chief BS Yeddyurappa, the now four-time chief minister of Karnataka, had taken oath as CM on July 26.

The 14-month-old Congress-JD(S) government collapsed in Karnataka as MLAs rebelled against the government. Yeddyurappa moved hours after the Speaker disqualified three of the 17 rebel MLAs yesterday evening. BJP defeated the coalition government by 105-99 votes in the floor test on Tuesday after a three-week-long intense power struggle in the Karnataka assembly.

In May 2018, the BJP had emerged as the single largest party in the 16th Karnataka assembly. At that time as well, Yeddyurappa was invited by the governor to form the government. Things, however, did not go well for the BJP at that time and Yeddyurappa could hold his chair only for three days as he failed to prove majority in the assembly. Then the other two parties, JD(S) and Congress, came together to block the BJP and formed the government.

First of all let me congratulate our new chief minister BSY for winning the trust vote and assuming the chief minister's chair. With this victory,BSY has given a befitting reply to his opponents, critics. He has struggled, dreamed day and night to achieve his goal of becoming the chief minister. One thing I would like to ask honorable former ministers Siddaramayya and H.D.Kumaraswamiji for their utterance against new chief minister BSY that people of the state have not given clear mandate to become chief ministerial post and which is unconstitutional, they will object it.Will they explain us when they form the coalition government with 77 congress MLAs and 37 JDS MLAs,did the people of the state give clear mandate. At that point of time BJP was the only single majority party with 105 MLAs but in spite of that they could not form the government for short of magic number. Was the congress-JDS coalition government constitutionally formed or unconstitutionally formed. When their turn comes, they are right and constitutionally bonded but in case of BJP it is unconstitutional and people have not given clear mandate. Why so much of political drama in Kar-Nataka.I am not belongs to either congress or BJP or JDS.But the fact is fact.
Secondly I do respect speaker Ramesh Kumarji and his impartial order of disqualifying 17 MLAs.But if he was so transparent and clear in his mind or administration,he shouldn't have dragged the issue of accepting resignations of MLAs who tendered their resignations a month ago may be for their various personal reasons.Speaker shouldn't have acted partially there by he has shown his indirect support to congress-JDS led coalition government.Anyhow now the new chief minister with new government with new ministers will appear on the stage with new roles.Let us keep our fingers crossed and waith and watch how and clean governance they will deliver to the people of Karnataka.Wishing all the best to the newly formed BJP led government.Hope for the better

Before resigning Speaker did one help for Yeddi. By disqualifying the rebel MLA/s speaker made Yeddi life easy for floor test today. As long as their case lingers in the court , the rebels cant bother Yeddi also now. Hope the Govt runs smooth from now on. Siddha-Dkshi-& Padhmanabhanagara Vraddha Mantrika will all be in toes to give Yeddi the taste of his own medicine in some time.

Congrats Yeddi,, we can expect good governance as the eagle eyes of Amith Shah and Modi would be on him. If he does no perform he will perish and will be booted out unlike Congi leadership. Good move by the BJP central leadership. They went for long term and solid gains even if they had to wait. On the other hand Cong played a wrong card that has cost them dearly . Despite having 77 seats they supported and unwanted , rejected party to rule Ktaka . In the process they lost their own die hard supporters as well. Its 'game over' for Cong in Ktaka for perhaps another decade.

Most of people says in school exam they should not include the question who is CM of Karnataka, because, our CM's are changing like the way how chameleon change its colour....

Congrats yeddy for coming to CM chair through horse trading..... remember you dont have full majority because its 222 assembly and due to your greediness 17 MLA are disqualified so you won trust vote nothing else. you are safe for 6 months only... enjoy....

We hereby urge on behalf of karnatka people all opposition parties should give co-operation to bjp without giving room for non-functioning of parliament. As bjp in central as well as in state we need development in state. All pending projects will resume soon as funds from central will flow-in from time to time. Proposal in regard to development is welcome and look towards it in near future. BJP will rule here after first three and half years and latter continue upto 2050 with people's mandate. Congress abd JD's should not involve in horse-trading to pull down bjp government. VIsiting to temple is one's aastha and not concerned to anybody. Let them continue to do namaaz five times which not concern of others. We hope other's also pray in there respective religious places for welfare of state and yeddiruppa team. Jai Hind...Jai Modiji..
