Gurdaspur (Punjab), Jul 29: The number cases of Indians being lured with prospects of job in Middle Eastern countries are always making news. Several citizens are either stranded in those countries or face much terrible outcomes and lawmakers have tried to bring back the victims of these cases.

One such case is of Veena Bedi (45), who was falsely promised by a travel agent of a housekeeping job in Kuwait, which would draw her an income of Rs 30,000 per month. To her dismay, all such promises wafted in the air when she ended up being sold to a Pakistani man. Veena was subjected to torture and assault from the man she was sold to, who also used to keep her in confinement. To save her from this torture, the victim’s family pleaded Sunny Deol during his Kartarpur Corridor visit.

Following which, Sunny Deol worked tirelessly with District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and two NGOs, one based in Kuwait and the other having its office in Canada, who on Friday, were successful in bringing back Veena.

With Veena’s return, the people admired and appreciated Gurdaspur MP Sunny Deol’s efforts. For his efforts, Vipin Mahajan, District President, BJP stated that Sunny Deol has been working in the right direction for the welfare of Gurdaspur district. Mahajan also lauded the actor-MP for carrying out his duties with utmost sincerity towards the betterment for the people of Gurdaspur.

Glad to see reel life hero saving damsels in distress now turned out to be a real life hero. Otherwise the poor woman would have been still stranded in Kuwait since it has become common that our embassies don't act without political intervention.

My hats off to MP Sunny Deol for bringing back Veena Bedi after she was a victim of job fraud in Kuwait. There are many others like her still suffering in Middle Eastern countries with no help from anybody. These victims should contact the respective Embassies for help.

Maids working in Kuwait for a Kuwaiti citizen's household
get paid only KD.30.- to max KD.60.- with accommodation
and food for 16 hours of work.
KD.130.- equals Rs.30,000.- Office Drivers get that salary
    for a 10 to 12 hour a day job.
In the State of Kuwait, maids suffer all sorts of inhumanity
because the government of Kuwait does not want to bring
this sector under Labour Law of the Ministry of Social Affairs
and Labour. Otherwise, maids too would have rights.

No one can sell one's house maid brought on a work contract
and that too to a Pakistani, most of whom are labourers.

Sunny Deol must catch that agent who sent this maid to
Kuwait, and thrash him to glory, just as he does to all the
    baddies in Indian movies.
