RIP Siddhartha: CCD outlets shut for a day

Bengaluru, Jul 31 (IANS): The popular retail chain Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) decided to shut shop on Wednesday across the country in memory of its founder-chairman V.G. Siddharatha, who died in Karnataka under mysterious condition, a company source said.

"All our 1,750 retail outlets in about 240 cities will remain shut for the day as a mark of respect to our founder-chairman Siddhartha who is no more," the source told IANS here.

The decision came just hours after Siddhartha's body was fished out of the Netravathi river on the west coast earlier in the day.

Offices of the CCD, including the Coffee Global Enterprises and the Amalgamated Bean Coffee (ABC) will also remain shut across the country.

"A holiday has also been declared for the workers and employees of all coffee estates in the three coffee districts of Chikkamagaluru, Hassan and Kodugu in the southern state due to the sudden death of coffee king Siddhartha," added the source.

The body of the 60-year-old coffee baron was found floating in the backwaters of the river by two fishermen around 6.30 a.m., during the massive search operation that was launched on Monday night by the state government after his driver filed a complaint that Siddhartha went missing from the road bridge over the river.

Siddhartha was the son-in-law of senior BJP leader S.M. Krishna, who was the external affairs minister during the UPA-2 government (2009-12) and former chief minister of the state from October 1999 to May 2004.

Siddhartha leaves behind widow Malavika Hegde and two sons.

A very sad end indeed. May his soul rest in peace and may his family find strength to bear this loss. The people who knew him found him to be a very down to earth and humble person.
Yesterday we had our sundry James Bonds and self proclaimed security experts writing nonsense comments on how he had fled the country without understanding the circumstances of this case. It is very easy to sit on an armchair and pass unwanted comments.

No person who is in his right mind will decide to end his life. It is not an easy thing to do, and it is only when that person thinks that all possibilities have been exhausted and the four walls are closing in fast and public humiliation faces them, that they will out of utter desperation and depression will take his or her own life.

Siddharth would have at that moment felt the same. Unfortunately there was nobody to hold his hand and pull him out from that state of mind at that time. Had he been a con man, he would have run away, and lived in obscurity by changing his identity, but did not.
For those of us who judge things morally, it may not seem to be the right thing to do, but we do not know his state of mind when he decided to end his life. We can only hope that any more of such enterprising people who have achieved so much in life do not end up tragically this way.

as per my opinion after reading daijiworld full coverage, i came 2 a conclusion dat his death caused due 2 demonetisation from da tuglaq-raaj. his death i in 2 formats. 1) some enemies pushed him in2 da river 2) or he himself committed suicide finally da postmortem will provide sufficient clues. if murdered there will be wounds. if pushed or committed self suicide i don't think clues will not be getting.
