Bengaluru: IMA scam - Notice to DCP, husband of corporator arrested

Bengaluru, Jul 31: In the IMA scam involving hundreds of crores of rupees, three officials including a deputy commissioner of police have been served with notices, seeking their personal appearance before the special investigation team (SIT) for questioning. The husband of a corporator, who happens to be a rowdy sheeter, has been arrested.

Ajay Hillori, who was earlier serving as deputy commissioner of police here, Ramesh Kumar, who was assistant commissioner of police, and inspector Ramesh, have been asked to be present on August 2, 4 and 6 respectively for questioning without fail. The team wants to seek clarifications from them on the allegation that they had extended help in various ways to main accused in IMA scam, Mansoor Khan.

In another development, Istiaq Ahmed, husband of BBMP member from Shivajinagar, Farida, was arrested by the officials of the special investigation team on Tuesday July 30.

In the meantime, the high court, which has been approached by a number of petitioners seeking to hand over IMA scam investigation to Central Bureau of Investigation, adjourned them to Thursday. They have been referred to a division bench of the high court with Chief Justice, A S Oka, and Justice P M Nawaz as its members.
