Mangalore: ‘Communal Goondas’ List Ready, says IGP Gopal Hosur

Mangalore: ‘Communal Goondas’ List Ready, says IGP Gopal Hosur

Mangalore, Jun 12 (DHNS): Inspector General of Police (Western Range) Gopal B Hosur said a list of “communal goondas” is ready with the district police, and these goondas are being chased by the department for the past one week

Addressing a “meet the press” programme organised by the DK Union of Working Journalists (DKUWJ) at Patrika Bhavan here on Thursday, he said he has clearly instructed his colleagues “to use maximum force” to deal sternly with the instigators of communal violence.

“The police have been clearly told to open fire on those using lethal weapons in the public, to demobilise them. We have already identified certain communal goondas and they are being chased for the past one week,” he added.

“Police are keen on mitigating anti-social elements in each community, and we are sure that communal harmony will automatically prevail once these elements are rooted out,” the IGP noted.

Special force

Hosur said teams comprising 100 police are being constituted in all districts, who will be given special training in dealing with the activities of communal elements, Naxalites, terrorists and underworld criminals.

“The lists of 100 men each in both DK and Udupi are ready, and the training is in progress,” he informed.

He also said the Naxal menace has considerably come down in the affected areas as a result of some specific steps taken by the police. “Police are mainly focusing on confidence building measures among the locals, who have vowed not to allow any Naxals to enter into their village at any cost. The number of ANF camps has been increased to 12, while four more police stations have been newly established,” he said.

‘Corrupt officials’

Pointing at the bottlenecks in establishing a honest and transparent system, the IGP said “the senior officials are usually the worst corrupt in the police department”.
“How can we expect honesty in the grassroots level when senior officials themselves are corrupt?” he questioned.

Hosur said his main aim is to make the common men feel that they are in a system which is fair, neutral and free of prejudices, that upholds the rule of law. Admitting that the common men hesitate to approach the police, he emphasised on the need for regular refresher courses to the police officials to make them people-friendly.

Answering a query, he said he has asked the Udupi SP to give news to media men in a way which does not hamper the investigations.

The IGP also said the police are aware that illegal activities are going on in a few prestigious hotels of Mangalore, against whom stringent actions will be taken soon. To another query, he said a comprehensive plan will be prepared for disturbance-free parking facilities.

DKUWJ President Harsha and General Secretary T N Balepuni were present.

Can we trust this list to be just? The credentials of the police and the rulers both are not trust worthy. First, they need to do things credible and earn trust of ALL and then prepare the list.

Dear IGP Hosur you are in the right path of protecting the law and bringing peace to Mangaloreans. Words may not be enough , You have to clean the corrupt and those officer who protects the criminals in every Police station in D.K district. The local political leader and relegiouse leaders are also to be given strict orders not to communalise evry issue in the name of religion and give room to unemployed youth taking law into thier hands.

The criminal goondas are not having any fear of police at all these days. The real law abiding citizen in general are not protected and are scared to go to police station to lodge FIR. There should be a WOMAN POLICE station in Mangalore city limit were our ladies can go without fear of lodging FIR. Ladies are scared to go due to some police officer mis behavior. The role of police officer should be to protect the communities and make people understand the law of the land is followed. Investigation should be done nonpartisan and fairly.

Not to particular community by the influence of Political pressure .Targeting only innocent minority should be stopped . Before the Assembly and Lokh Sabah election there were several incident happened and POLICE were supporting the present government and even there were police attrocities during communal voilence. Beating NUNS and ladies have tarnished teh image of POLICE nad present government. The people had lost faith in the POLICE . Now its time to bring back confidence in people and show that your are protecting people and not criminals .

I hope Mr. HOSUR will be able to do this and will be remembered Super Cops, like Sangliaana, Kiran bedi, Julius Rebiero . Good wishes to all POLICE OFFICER to serve the community and bring pride to department and karnataka and make a name like scotlandyard police .

This list will be nothing but the list of Muslim youths, this is what police always does. In the name of Goonda list they will prepare just the list of muslim youths who are kind of well known in the locality or around, and for name sake or for the formality they will inclue 1 or 2 other community guys.

I am afraid, you will face some obstacles to implement your plans because, not all police officials, including those holding senior postiions, are as honest, fair and unbiased as you are. Anyway, we wish to see, if not all, at least mojority of police force work sincerely and impartially. We wish you great success in your mission. God bless you.

It is a good move dear Mr. Hosur. Firstly you must work towards earning public people''s faith back in Police personnel n Police dept. Yes Orientation course to Police to motivate them to be more efficient n people friendly, is a must coz police some how make a person feel guilty even if he / she is not...!!!! Basic Communication skills should be imparted to police force, to gain confidence of general public. Corruption has been, is being and will be a part of our life, but it should be curbed and curtailed. What will police dept do for corrupt political leaders who buy the system, who bribe the officials in a large scale, so justice to comman citizens is a difficult task.. How will you stop Political parties n our so called leades, pouring in money to goondaism in the dist? If that can be controlled, communal harmony will be restoured without much efforts. But am sure you will reach some where with your earnest thinking n good beginning. b''coz, " Well begun is half done "...!! Good Wishes to you.

Our IGP, Mr. Gopal Hosur, is going in the right direction. Sir, communal elements have no religion. They exploit the situation for their benefit under the influence of a political don or religious mentor. There should be a way out to stop the politicians faning communal disturbance & interfering in the Law & Order matter. Even the honest police officials fear these influencial politician & corrupt/communal senior police officials hence these helpless junior police officials dance to their tunes. Also those religious mentors should be identified & listed in the group of anti-social elements. Insha Allah, Mangalore will be back to its old glory of one of the most educated, law-abiding & peaceful citizen.

Karnataka is the worst corruptive state in India, top to bottom corruption/communal/terrorism. Your voice will be only a tip of an ice-berg. Anyway good luck and go ahead and happy to hear yet there are good people raising voice for corruption communal and terrorism.
