Daijiworld Media Network - Dharwad (SP)

Dharwad, Aug 5: Former chief minister Jagadish Shettar, speaking to media persons at Hubballi on Sunday, August 4, clarified that rebel legislators are free to form a new political party, join any other political party, or take any other decision as they might deem fit. He added that no discussions were held with these legislators about admitting them into the BJP.

On the question of expansion of the ministry, he said that the chief minister is free to undertake this exercise at his discretion. He however, said that Yediyurappa would be visiting central leaders in a couple days and hold detailed discussions, based on the outcome of which the ministry would be expanded.

Shettar said that he has no expectations of any posts and has always discharged the responsibilities and duties entrusted to him by the party and its high command efficiently. He said he has not lobbied for any position in the past and will never indulge in it in future too. He added that the government is equipped to handle flood and drought situations in the state.
