Madikeri, Aug 5: One side of Virajept-Makutta road of the district of Kodagu collapsed on the early morning of Monday, August 5, due to heavy rains.
Giving details of the mishap, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kodagu district said, "Landslide has occurred due to heavy downpour on one side of Virajpet-Makutta road. I have done the spot inspection along with the Tahsildar, PWD engineer and other officials on today morning. All the vehicular movement on this road from Perumbady check post to Makutta check post is prohibited for three days keeping in view the safety of the public as well for repairing the road."
The road will be opened for public after doing temporary repair work. Later, action will be taken to get the road repaired permanently. The district administration has requested the public to cooperate.
