Bangalore: CCB Police Arrest Ravi Poojary's Aid in Encounter

Bangalore, Jun 14: A right hand man of noted underworld criminal Ravi Poojari and prime accused in the murder of a businessman Subbarao in Mangalore , was nabbed by the city crime branch police(CCB) in Bangalore, on Sunday, June 14, following a shooting encounter.
Police sources confirmed that they arrested noted criminal Harish Tolar, an associate and right hand man of underworld criminal Ravi Poojari. He is a resident of Amavasebail in Shankaranarayana Police station limits near Kundapur in Udupi district. The encounter happened near Jnanabharthi area in city limits during the early hours of Sunday. He was admitted to the Victoria hospital and is being treated for bullet wounds on his knee.
CCB sources said that they were lying in wait for him near Jnanabharathi area after they got information that he was going to meet someone. But when he was confronted by the police , it is reported that Harish drew out 2 pistols and aimed them at the police party. But the police reacted quickly and shot him in his knees .
The police also arrested 7 other associates of his. They have been identified as Sunil Shetty(31), resident of Kalyanpur, Godwin Chethan(43), resident of Jeppu bolar, Chandrakanth(26), resident of Vayara in Kumble, Pavan Kumar(28), resident of Maruthi seva Nagara, Ganesh Borisle(37) resident of Bolar, Shabir Jasteer Gilani(26) resident of Kambatthi and Ajith Kumar Shetty(30), resident of Amavasebail.
It is believed that Harish Tolar, ran to Dubai, after his involvement in the murder of Subbarao, a noted businessman and builder in Mangalore. He was earlier booked for two murder cases with a total of eight criminal cases slapped against him, said the police . The gang engaged in threatening businessmen and extorting money from them. They also had plans to kidnap businessmen for ransom.
Several earlier attempts by the Dakshina Kannada Police to arrest him failed, as he had sought refuge in Dubai.
