Madikeri, Aug 6: Suresh (38), who was working as cook in Hotel Kanara at Somwarpet in the district met unnatural death all of a sudden. It is said that his end came due to consumption of poisonous liquid received by parcel.

Suresh was working in the hotel on Sunday August 4 when he received a courier parcel. He brought it home and told his wife that he had received holy water dispatched by Kasargod Vishnumurthy temple. He said he wold be consuming it. His wife said that within a few minutes, she observed that he was not alive.

On the complaint made by the wife of the deceased, the police have registered a case. Station house officer of Somwarpet station, Shivashankar, has been investigating.

Some people expressed the suspicion that someone would have sent him poisonous liquid from Kasargod with the specific objective of killing him. Some also suspect that he would have consumed poison willingly to end his life.

Viscera samples have been sent to the forensic science laboratory for testing. The case is expected to provide clear lead once the report from the laboratory is received.
