Mangaluru: Hindu outfits appeal to prevent cow slaughter during Bakrid

Media Release

Mangaluru, Aug 6: Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and other Gorakshak organisations submitted an appeal on Friday, August 6, to the additional commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district M J Roopa to prevent cow slaughter during the Muslim festival of Bakrid, which is fast approaching.

Chandra Moger, Uma and Yogish Ashwathpur, district leaders of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Anand Shetty Adyar, state chief secretary of Sri Rama Sene, Harish Amtadi, divisional chief secretary, Pradeep Moodushedde, district president, Harish Bokkapatna, district secretary, Venkatesh Padiyar, city secretary, Purandara and Ravi Moodushedde were present.

The following demands are mentioned in the appeal:

*Strict action should be taken against illegal cow slaughtering and cow trafficking during Bakrid festival.

*One-day permission is granted for animal slaughter on Bakrid. This is violation of law. One-day permission should not be granted under any circumstances.

*The government should give a call to Muslims to celebrate 'Eco-friendly Bakrid' as it gives call to Hindus to celebrate 'Eco-friendly Ganeshotsav', 'Eco-friendly Holi' and 'Eco-friendly Deepavali.'

*Ban on cow slaughter should be implemented throughout the country.

Forget cows Gourakshak goons not even allowing to slaughter bull/buffalo/cow/ox. Let law take its course against anything illegal activities taken place during those period. Sometime Gourakshak goons get into house to house search and vandalize the properties. Concerned dept should take stern action against all those indulging in unlawful activities.

There is no universal ban now in India. It varies from state to state. In Karnataka it is allowed to slaughter diseased and old ones after proper certification. Just for info.
