Bengaluru: Transfer of officials - Intelligent move by CM, party's central leadership?

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Aug 7: During the 12 days since BJP state president, B S Yediyurappa, assumed charge as the new chief minister of Karnataka, over 50 officers have been transferred from IPS, IAS land KAS cadres. Deployment of officials of their choice even before the ministry is formed, appears to be part of a well-conceived plan of Yediyurappa and the high command of the BJP.

If chosen officers are posted to selected positions even before the ministers are appointed, these officials will be functioning directly under the instructions of the chief minister. This enables the chief minister to exercise control over the administration. Sources say that it so seems that the party's central leadership had asked Yediyurappa to post efficient officers to chosen posts which can support efficient administration of the state.

CM B S Yediyurappa

After the formation of the BJP government, transfer of IPS officers in particular, has been predominantly observed. Over 28 IPS officers have been transferred. Officers in key posts like additional director general of police (law and order), state intelligence, Bengaluru, police commissioner of Mangaluru, some important positions within Bengaluru city police commissioner, anti corruption bureau etc have seen a change of officers. It is thought that the chosen officials have been posted in the strategic posts.

After the BJP came to power in Karnataka in 2008, charges of corruption had been heard, and the party had lost power. It is said that this time around, the party is determined to give good administration to the state and prove itself to win over the confidence of the people.

It is learnt that the BJP has prepared a clear list of ways and means to give efficient administration. Currently, the party is in power in 18 states. An effort to implement similar model guidelines in the state is being made now. Having clear vision for future, identifying future leaders and grooming them by giving them responsibilities at a young age, providing opportunity to enthusiastic, active personalities in the ministry etc are some of the strategies. A senior BJP leader said
that suitable officers have been posted in important posts to see that the administration system remains well-oiled and runs smoothly.

Very good move by the current BJP Govt. BSY is very serious adminstrator this time around. Eagle eyes are on him from the center. These officers were posted by the coalition Govt to ensure they could have their ways for anything off the track according to their whims and fancies. In some cases the posting was done at the request of officers at the place of their choice after some under the table transactions.
It wont work any more. Those days are gone!
