Panaji: Four North Indians Arrested for Robbery

Panaji, Jun 17: Goa police today arrested four youths from Uttar Pradesh and Delhi after they committed daylight armed robbery in a flat at city’s outskirts.
 
“All the four youths were arrested this afternoon little before they could board Goa Express train at Margao railway station, 30 kms away from here,” Superintendent of Police (Intelligence) Atmaram Deshpande told reporters.
 
Police stated that all the four had committed armed robbery at a house of a city business Muzaffar Kadri who stays at St Cruz locality, on Panaji’s outskirts at 11.30a.m.
 
The robbers fled with gold worth Rs 10 lac and cash of around 1045 lac after threatening the house inmates at gun point. “One of the robber even fired a bullet from country-made pistol to scare the inmates,” Deshpande said.
 
The police managed to track down all the four accused – Surinder Kumar (20), Salampur-Delhi, Bipin Bhanuprasad (22), Amrohi, UP, Shameem Ahmad (22), Moradabad UP and Pawankumar alias Dipak (22) Amrohi, UP.
 
Deshpande disclosed that three were arrested at Margao railway station while the fourth one was picked up from city’s Pandava Chapel area.
 
“Initially, two were arrested at the railway station after a brief chase on the tracks,” the SP said.
 
Police have recovered all the gold and cash from the accused and further investigation is on.
