Panaji: South Asian Film Festival from June 26

Panaji, Jun 18: More than 60 films from south asian countries will be showcased in the South Asian Film Festival to be held in Goa from June 26 to June 29.
 
“There will be special screening of 12 Iranian films,” Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat today said announcing the festival in Goa.
 
The SAFF, organized by South Asia Foundation, is supported by Goa-government run Entertainment society of Goa and Kala Academy.
 
Kamat said that the films from eight south asian countries including Afganisthan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka would be screened for the festival.
 
Goa Chief Minister today announced the festival programme in presence of Goa legislative assembly speaker Pratapsingh Rane, Veteran filmmakers Mahesh Bhatt, Pankaj Parashar, Pooja Bhatt, SAFF’s secretary General Rahul Barua and organizing chairman Jitendra Deshprabhu.
 
Barua said that the directors and actors including Prasanna Vithange, Fathimath Nahula, Enamul Karim Nirjhar, Nakim Uddin, Ugyen Wangdi, Mahesh Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt, Anirudhdha Roy Chowdhary, Onir, mohit suri, Manisha koirala and others will be participating in the festival.
 
During the festival, there will be a seminar on Indian Cinema and South Asia which will be participated by industry veterans.
 
Barua said that the festival will also premier an international movie `Yousuf’. “The festival will screen four categories of films including Classic Films, Short films, Documentary Films and Popular or Mainstream films,” the SAFF secretary General said.
 
He added that the festival will also feature films from all era’s from Raj Kapoor to Pooja Bhatt to Onir. “It will also include some of the internationally acclaimed and award winning films from the region. The film will also feature contemporary films like Fashion, Welcome to Sajjanpur and many more,” Barua said.
