Panaji, Jun 20: Shantaram Naik M P said that the Government should draw a scheme of computer literacy along with literacy programmes and said that slogan of “Each one Teach One” should also be followed in the matter of computer literacy.

Shantaram Naik, who was inaugurating a career guidance programme of Jetking at Panaji in commemoration of its 10 years educational service in Goa further appealed to the Government of Goa to have a dialogue with un-employed graduates/diploma holders, who prefer to serve in Goa rather than seeking employment outside the state, and assess their problems with a view to ensure employment to them in near future.

Naik said that on account of global recession, which had its effect in a country, though to a lesser extent, unemployed qualified persons have very limited avenues open and, at this juncture, government should stand strongly behind them and use its good offices in private sectors, at least to get a limited number of them employed.

Naik also pleaded with the government to encourage the institution imparting education in Information Technology sector and examine the possibility of giving them grants or subsidy.

Naik said use of computer technology is more needed in a country of vast population and terrain like India, in order to get access to the people, monitor their problems and find solutions.

Experience has shown us that computer technology is not an elite medium but is the fastest and the most efficient medium to reach to the doorsteps of the people, he said

Naik also stressed the need of organizing computer literacy programmes and said that the slogan of “each one teach one” should equally be followed in the matter of computer literacy.

Altinho Gomes, Vice Chairman of Goa Information Technology Development Corporation said that computer technology has reduced the world to a global village and further said that students of information technology must also imbibe self discipline in themselves, which will help to shape their destiny in a proper course.

Gurudas Natekar, Director of Jetking, Goa said that out of 16,000 students trained by Jetking, Goa, almost 11,000 have secured employment. He said that despite the business difficulties, their institution imparts computer hardware and networking education to the students in a manner which helps them to get employment at the fastest possible time.

Milan Budgiri compered the proceedings of the meeting while Daniel Gonsalves proposed a vote of thanks.

Sumeet Mishra, Assistant General Manager of Jetking, Prakash Shetye, Manager, of Red Hat and J V Manerakar, Ex-Chairman of Goa Dnyan Prasarak Mandal were present on the occasion.
