Pak takes foreign media to LoC, 'briefs' them on situation

Islamabad, Aug 29 (IANS): As part of its efforts to drum up global attention on Kashmir, the Pakistan army on Thursday took a group of foreign media correspondents to the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan occupied Kashmir and "briefed" them about the situation, including on Indian ceasefire violations "deliberately targeting civilians".

"A group of foreign media correspondents in Pakistan visited the LOC. Briefed about situation and Indian ceasefire violations deliberately targeting civilian population.

Correspondents also freely interacted with locals. IOJ&K remains locked down under curfew hiding Indian atrocities," Director General of the Inter Services Public Relations, Maj. Gen. Asif Ghafoor tweeted, along with a video of the event, but minus the audio.

Pakistan has intensified its efforts to highlight the Kashmir issue at every forum, after US President Donald Trump backed off from his offer to mediate on the Kashmir issue and left it to India to handle it, during talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in France last week.

At the very least, I hope the reporters may have been treated to some authentic "Biriyani's" of their choice. That's all they can do at this time.

India should allow those foriegn media who are at LOC to walk into Indian territory and report the true situation on ground in Kashmir than Pakistan briefing them falsely across LOC away from Kashmir. Why India is reluctant??????....

Indian government media and Indian media in general basically silent on IOJ&K. Why? If India perceives to be an open democracy, why there is no open media to high light the good, the bad and the ugly that is going on there. There are just glimpses coming out saying all is hunky-dory, when infact the real ground situation is different based on some foreign media. When the world at large gets the true information from international media and not from Indian media, India's credibility will be out of the window.

The world will not trust India anymore.
