The Commission for Protection of Child Rights Acts, 2005, under which the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has been set up, has provision for setting up of state panels as well under Section 17 of the Act.

Several states including Goa, Maharashtra and Delhi have already set up their State commissions.

Karnataka’s minister for Women and Child Welfare P M Narendraswamy, who announced the constitution of the commission,  said Rs 1.70 crore had been released to the commission for the year 2009-10.

The commission would work for protection of child rights and recommend measures for their effective implementation. It would inquire into violation of child rights and recommend initiation of proceedings in such cases.

Narendraswamy said the international women day celebrations would be held at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall on July 8. The Government would present the Kittur Rani Chennamma awards to 15 persons, including film producer Parvathamma Rajkumar, and six organisations for their contributions for the welfare of women. Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa would inaugurate the programme, he said.

Rajesh, That is what I want to say, you have not read it properly. even when you give alms it doesnot go these poor children it is used by their so called guardians and they are only given leftover. Have you not seen in the movie "slumdog" how the innocent children are vicitimised. This is a hard reality.

If you really want to help these children given them food, shelter and clothing or best rehabilitate them and not give money which will never come to them. slowly and steadily this social crime of using children for such acts by showing sympathy and pity will come to an end.

Judith, What would the children do if you donot give them alms? they will try to steal and may become robbers etc. Instead of that Government should make a strict law to punish the offenders and jail those who use these children for nefarious activites. Punish the initiaters then the victims.

There should be a ban on CHILD BEGGING, WHICH IS CRUDEST FORM OF CHILD LABOUR, IN WHICH THE POLICEMEN ALSO GET HAFTAS, where infants and children are either given birth or kidnapped and misused (even maimed) by cruel and heartless people. stop giving money to babies and children. THEY ARE MADE TO BEG IN THE SCORCHING SUN, COLD AND RAINS and THE MONEY COLLECTED BY THEM IS USED BY THE SCOUNDRELS AND IF THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO COLLECT ENOUGH MONEY THEY ARE DONE AWAY WITH.

Even, if these children survive somehow the girls go in the flesh trade and boys become thieves or some anti social elements. Only give food, clothing and shelter. better still you may give the money to NGOs, who will rehabilitate the innocent babies and children and finally THE SCOUNDRELS WILL STOP MISUSING INNOCENT CHILDREN FOR THEIR SELFISH GAINS. REMEMBER ALL CHILDREN ARE INNOCENT AND VULNERABLE AND CANNOT FIGHT THE CRUEL WORLD ON THEIR OWN. PLEASE STOP GIVING ALMS TO BABIES AND CHILDREN AND ALSO, TELL YOUR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES WHO IN TURN SHOULD SPREAD THE NEWS. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY WE CAN SAVE OUR INNOCENT CHILDREN. NA RAHENGI BAS NA BAJEGI BASOORI.
