Bhopal, Sep 4: A tribal woman in Madhya Pradesh's Alirajpur district, on Sunday, was thrashed and paraded by her family men for eloping with a man from a different tribe. The 19-year-old woman was pushed by the male members of her family to walk down a village road and beaten with sticks while she screamed and begged for mercy.

Though the police began investigations, no complaint was received or registered yet.

To save herself from the men beating her the girl walked fast on the road, but passers-by ignored her ordeal and moved on.

The Superintendent of Police of Alirajpur Vipul Shrivastava said the police received a video through WhatsApp and some villagers informed them that the video was shot in Temachi village which comes under Ambua police station. He also added that the police can take action only after receiving statements of the woman and her father.

Last month, the same village witnessed a similar incident when a young girl and boy from different tribes were tied to separate wooden poles and flogged by the girl's family and villagers for falling in love.
